Basketball Team's Arizona Immigration Controversy Unifies Highland Park High (Politics Daily)

May 23rd 2010 4:11PM "Under Arizona's new immigration law, police have the power to stop and detain anyone who they have reason to suspect is in the country illegally."

The law states that if they are already stopped for some offense then the police have the right to have the suspect identify themself(s) as U.S. citizens.

SENATE BILL 1070, SEC 2, TTILE 11, CHAPTER 7, ARTICLE 8
"FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c)."

If they cannot provide documentation, they will then be charged with being an illegal immigrant (which is already a federal law).

How will we pay for health care reform? An increase in Medicare tax (WalletPop)

Mar 19th 2010 9:28PM My question is this: If this program is to benefit everyone, why should only a few have to pay for it? My other question is: If public programs are so great and well funded, why is social security in such trouble?
Before they pass the bill, they better have a way to pay for it. I wasnt allowed to take college classes without paying for them first. To pass a bill without also passing a bill ( or even adding it to the health bill) is sheer stupidity.

Doomsday Seed Vault Hits 500,000 (Slashfood)

Mar 12th 2010 9:21PM I do not know anything about storeing seeds but how do they store the seeds so they are not damaged? Do they know how long the seeds can be in there before they are no longer viable?

Insurance Nightmare: Why We Need a Better System (Politics Daily)

Feb 25th 2010 3:44PM I know exactally what this woman is going through. I am currently having my own health insurance problems. But unlike her, my problems aren't with my private insurance but with Medicare. I have been given the same run around as she has. Every time I call Social Security to check on the status of a form I turned in I get a different answer. My problems get even worse as when ever I call I find out that the route they previously sent me was incorrect. The time I spent doing what they have previously have told me made it so I could no longer appeal the decision that was previously made. In other words, they gave me false information that now makes it impossible for me to have my problem solved. This has happened twice so far, both times due to faults made at Social Security.

Neon Elmhurst Hospital Sign Burns Out Appropriately (Asylum)

Nov 20th 2009 6:55AM Whats better advertising than the hospitals new sign. "Im Hurt, so Ill go down to Elmhurst Hospital to get better."

Abercrombie & Fitch sues Beyonce over Sasha Fierce perfume (Daily Finance)

Sep 18th 2009 9:13AM I once worked in a kid store above an Ambercrombie and Fitch store. We would have parties in our store and would have to tell the kids not to be afraid because of the vibrations in the floor from the music of the store below. I had walked down to A & F several times and asked them to turn down there music. First I had to find someone to talk to. Then wait for them to notice me istead of just talking to themselves (including the manager) and then I was told they couldnt turn down the music because of store policy. I have good hearing and just trying to walk through the store hurt my ears. The store I worked at lost business because of children being afraid of the loud noises and rumbling of the floor from the music. I dont understand how people can see that what they did was right.

Antiques Roadshow To Feature First Million-Dollar Appraisal (Luxist)

Jun 30th 2009 6:20PM I would like to say that I am 24 years old and love going to antique shops. I mostly look at the nick nacks but also enjoy some of the furniture you can find. I myself am in possession of a full size modified bay window caboose. I am interested in collecting origional objects that can be found in a caboose during the time it was in use. Anyone who has any leads as to the tools or a floor plan for a NYC N-7 bay window caboose please email me at kpilker@aol.com.

Shoe-Stealing Fox is Busted! Over 100 Shoes Discovered in Den (Pawnation OLD)

Jun 18th 2009 5:13PM My father has a dog that when she gets excited she goes into our mudroom and takes a shoe and prances aroud the house with it until someone asks for the shoe back. If no one see her she will eventuatlly drop the shoe some where and forgets about it. Its only frustrating when she nabs both shes and hide them some where in the house when you get to go somewhere.

Colonel's secret ingredient for KFC grilled chicken? Beef (WalletPop)

Jun 18th 2009 1:46AM In your comment you say that MSG cannot be used in baby food. Neither can honey. Oddly enough the stuff that can kill an infant/baby can be eaten by children and adults with no side effect. Yes MSG is not the best thing to ingest.

I will admit that I have never had the KGC yet but when making chicken at home I use all sorts of seasonings. Beef has a stronge flavor and is used to flavor other foods.

Valedictorian's Commencement Speech Censored - What Exactly Did She Say? (ParentDish)

Jun 6th 2009 9:19PM I have spent the time to go to the other site and read both speeches. At my own graduation I didnt listen to the valedictorian speech because it was dull. They say the speech is supposed to inspire the graduating class to get out there and do something. We know that even before we graduate. Reading the rewritten speech this young lady had to write does not inspire me at all. I also remember more of the origional speech than that of the rewritten one. If something is supposed to inspire me to do something, shouldnt it be something that stays in my mind? Shouldnt this type of speech be ingrained in my mind even 10 years later? I understand tradition. Some traditions should be treasured. But they also have to conform to the times. Who cares if this woman is going to Harvard or to a local community college. She worked hard for those four years. I was someone who believed in doing a good job and doing it right. I got screwed because I did. What this young woman was telling this graduating class and the rest of the audience is that you were children when you started school and now you are adults. The future is yours, wether you go head first into the world or take a little wime finding your true calling. Bottom line is how many people remember their own speeches at their graduating ceremonies? And how many of you were inspired by a speech that was so dull you no longer remember it? This young woman did something the world has forgotten. Dont lie to somebody that their life is always going to be wonderful. She told it how it is.
