Mar 21st 2011 9:21AM I lived with a manipulating husband for 10 years. When he left me that was the best thing that happened!(even though at first I thought it was the end of the world) I happened upon a book call "When Pleasing Others is Hurting You" that helped me realize what I was doning to not only attract but enable that behavior. Now after 2 years I am the happiest I have ever been AND have found a confidence that I never thought was possible!

Mar 16th 2011 1:47PM @Barb ..... where are you located cause I need to be there! I live in a small rual county in Virginia and STILL pay over $1000 for rent! Richmond city is a little cheaper (not for a house but at least they have apartments there that run around $800 for a 2 bedroom) but I have NEVER seen rent anywhere around here for $325.

Mar 11th 2011 10:51AM It is sad that in our society, so many moms do find that they HAVE to sacrifice their children to go to work to make ends meet. I was a SAHM and I LOVED IT. That was until my ex decided that since I didn't work (got jobs here and there and then when I would ask him for money at the end of the week becuase my paycheck was less than the gas and daycare) he left me for a chick that makes 3 times what I did. Wonderfull how society has programmed us that it's not the amount of time with your child it's how much money you can make and what you can "give" them all while paying someone else to raise your child. And we wonder why kids now are the way they are becuase we don't even raise our own children. We depend on a early 20 something girl making minimum wage sitting with our kids in daycare while we pay out hundards to have them there to teach our children what's right and wrong and how to and not to act. Now being a single mom I spend 20 min. every night deprogramming my kids from how they are supose to act at the sitters to how they are supose to act, always. Wish we were still in the 50's when society was interested in investing in our children and our families not stuff (that little bigger house becuse our friend got one or a fancier car) and being selfish. I do wish that those women who do work full time and want to climb that corp. ladder and do not want to give that up think long and hard before having kids. They are not just an accessory for when we want them, and if we choose to have children then we need to take time with them! We like to interact, just like the artical said, but yet we don't give that to our children anymore? Would you want to be left alone with a bunch of stuff for days, months without interaction from those who are supose to love you and be there for you??? If they are never there how can you count on them to be there when you really need them. We wouldn't treat our friends the way that society has made the norm for us to treat our children. Children need more than that big house full of stuff, they need hugs and time to talk with their moms and dads.

Feb 25th 2011 9:44AM You know taxing something that "YOU" don't agree with is infringing on MY personal rights!!! This is still a semi-FREE country and the reason we continue to LOSE our rights is "becuase it helps society" or "it's for your own good" ... REALLY!!! If everyone concerned themselves to their own private matters maybe THEN we might start to make some progress! If I make a bad choice(like smoke or eat candy!) then I have to suffer those consequences and NO ONE should be able to PROFIT from MY BAD CHOICE!!! Everyone wants to throw a fit about we are going to be like Europe and have outragous taxes guess what WE ALREADY HAVE THEM!!!!! They tax our income before we can ever get it, they tax us when we spend it and then they continue to tax us as long as we have it!!!!!! HOW IS THAT FAIR OR RESPONSIBLE AND WHERE WHERE WHERE IS ALL THAT MONEY GOING!!!!! Probally the lawmakers themselves. Did you know JUST the 535 members of the House and Senate their pay roll is like $95+ million!! NOT inculding any who have served 2+ terms and recieving anywhere from $70,000 to $140,000 a year in PENSION AT OUR EXPENSE!!!! Give them a HUGE pay cut and like the rest of us have had to take and I bet we could REALLY make a dent in our debt SINCE THEY ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE SPENT IT TO BEGIN WITH!

You want to pay China wages to get your stuff then you are suporting all the jobs there then ALL OF US will have to settle to get paid China wages since we can't sell any goods that are made here and compete! You want to live better? Then you have to PAY for it!

WHY is everyone on here whining INSTEAD of doing something about their situation????? I agree 100% with the author! RIGHT NOW is the time we should break out and DO whatever it is and NOT settle for some meger existence so you can have an IPad!!!! The problem is simple, everyone wants what they want as cheap as possible and NO ONE wants to help each other up! Right now the buy local shop local is gaining and more and more people are shopping with their neighbors instead of Wal-Mart lead based crap! Open a shop that YOU would want to do all day!!!
