first of all, some of the reasons people can't have their own children are the same reasons they can't adopt. my husband's cancer and my age precluded us from adopting in most places.
also, for those who can ill afford fertility treatments adoption is no longer the cheaper option.
lastly, adoption for many comes with a barrage of special issues not all of which people are prepared to deal with. and it does not solve the issue of not being able to have one's own children only having a child in one's life. also, there are many of us who believe that taking a child from his home and country because their parents are poor and not orphaned is not compassionate, but modern day colonialism. we have decided that if we find such a child, we would prefer to give their impoverished birth mother the money we would have spent on adoption, just as maddona should have done with david's father in malawi.

Jun 10th 2008 12:19PM the irony is that many of these vegans reject the notion of organized religion and traidition because they feel it's to strict or confirmist and yet they are more facist and hardline than any religious or traditional person i've encountered.
i find them to be hypocrites and obviously based on the lack of care for this child, their philosophies are not compassionate.
oh sure, they care about a cow or a chickent, but not their own child.

Jun 2nd 2008 5:08AM yes, by all means suck up and kiss butt to violent, angry, ill-behaved and unprofessional airline employees. show your children that the best way to get what you what is to stomp on those around you and that we should all aspire to roll over for authoritarians who abuse their power and break the rules.
besides, after watching my 71 year old father get berated by some arrogant little crap on delta for asking for a glass of water, i highly doubt that "acting nice" will prevent these mean-spirited employees from behaving however they want.

May 26th 2008 3:32PM it was the florida republicans who decided to change the democratic primaries. it really seems like the dnc is in bed with the republicans on this one.
if the dnc punishes florida democrats by discounting their votes and delegates, then the democrats are simply rigging the election and as much as i don't want to, i will give my vote to republicans to prove to the democrats they are not above democracy.

that made it lose it's spark. once you start seeing how things are fixed toward certain contestants it ceases to become entertaining for thinking people. her daytime show audience is full of mindless sheep who don't notice these things, but the primetime audience can't tolerate this stuff.
