Over Half of Netflix Viewers Too Lazy to Walk to the Mailbox (Switched)
Feb 1st 2010 3:56AM I've watched a few things on Nexflix using the Instant option, but the fact is that the most popular stuff isn't available for Instant download. I also get DVDs delivered by mail but only one at a time, so sometimes I watch Instant movies while I'm waiting for the next DVD to arrive. However, most of the movies I watch instantly are independent or foreign movies, or movies that have been out for more than a decade.
70% of Employers Have Rejected Applicants Over Online Info (Switched)
Feb 1st 2010 3:10AM It seems to me that the period in which one's private life was unknown by one's employer has been recent and short. In most times in history, people worked close to home and their employer (if they had one) was probably their neighbor. It's only probably been since the Industrial Revolution that work life became so separated from home life. But even in more recent times like the 50s and 60s, businessmen were expected to have wives who all socialized together and reputation was so important. I'm sure there are even better examples of this.
So really the main difference now is that the village is bigger and the employer is more faceless to the employee.

By the way, I'm podcasting on basically zero sleep, so this should be fun.

If you're not seeing chat with the podcast, just refresh that bad boy. A little F5 should make things right as rain.
