Breakfast Topic: What is your city of choice? (WoW)

Sep 17th 2010 8:43AM Darnassus is my favorite for the scenery, but Ironforge wins it for the ease of layout and the relatively low latency as compared to Stormwind. I was there at 4am MST today and even with relatively few toons around, it took ages to open my mail messages. Ironforge gets crowded, but it's always speedy to do my auctioneering and the run from the AH to the bank is (literally and figuratively) very straight-forward. Win!

Twitter employee teases users with "nifty" new features (Download Squad)

Mar 1st 2010 1:22PM In my mind, Seesmic Web is the best non-desktop way to use Twitter, and I'd love to see them heading in that direction.

Jelli is an online music service that tries a bit too hard (Download Squad)

Feb 18th 2010 2:51AM Totally agree - I thought Jelli was a huge disappointment. In theory it sounded cool, but the song choices were lame at best and repetitive at worst. I also wasn't lovin' the forced chat room action. Give me Radio Tuna all the way!

Miranda IM now supports Facebook chat (Download Squad)

Feb 15th 2010 5:28AM Nice! I've been using Pidgen for years, but lately it's been feeling awfully archaic. Miranda looks pretty sweet - looking forward to checking it out!

How to turn off Google Buzz, or just close some of its privacy loopholes (Download Squad)

Feb 13th 2010 11:49PM Ha! My commenting difficulties are legendary tonight!

Meant to say, cheers for these tips - now Buzz has been thoroughly removed from my Gmail, I'm a much happier girl!

Google may remove Buzz from Gmail (Download Squad)

Feb 13th 2010 10:58PM I like to think that I'm pretty damn savvy when it comes to figuring out new web apps and such, but Google Buzz has me completely mystified. Apparently I keep mystifying Google in return, since the big G can't seem to decide whose "buzz" I'm following. One minute I'm following 4 people, the next I'm following 0 but there are 5 people following me ... And the crux of the matter is that I have no intention of using this at all. Leave me be, dammit! If I want to share something with someone, I have eleventy-billion other ways to do it. Do what you do best, Google: Gmail, Google Reader, Maps & Image search - leave the social networking "features" out of it!

Feeling Sick? 'Truth on Call' Asks Doctors Questions Via Text Messages (Switched)

Feb 6th 2010 5:28PM Well said, Henry. But from the viewpoint of one who might be interested in using this service, it sounds *extremely* over-priced. The article says "$50-per-doctor", but I'm wondering if that means $50-per-question? If so, wouldn't it be much wiser and more economical for the enduser to utilize a website like WebMD to look up their symptoms? If you're talking about a medical crisis, I'd much rather dial 911 than waste $50 and texting/response time to find out that yes, I *do* need to visit a hospital.

Firefox Friday Five (Download Squad)

Jan 30th 2010 7:43AM Cheers for that tip on overriding the compatibility issue, Sebastian! I've been stubbornly refusing to upgrade because I can't bear to lose the functionality of my Google Notebook add-on. Excellent to see that I can bypass that check. You rock! =)
