Mar 19th 2009 12:55AM what people don't realize about out of date food and donating it to food shelters and homeless people is that donating to these people SOUNDS like a nice thing to do at first BUT is in fact a very dangerous practice...how long these items have been out of a safe cooling temperature and growing microbes that cause food borne illness can range from minutes to hours and possibly days. Everything is fine until some poor person dies from salmonella or some other food poisoning. Then the donating party is charged with a crime and the money comes out of their pocket in court. Years ago I catered weddings and patties..people always wanted leftovers...great, I give them food that was leftover.I would cool it, refrigerate it, they would take it home possibly leave it in the car for hours or even overnight eat it get sick and want to blame me..no thanks...If you feel so much for the needy, do the right thing and DONATE MONEY or TIME to the shelters or providers of these services but don't get pissy with donating out of date food to the poor...what did they ever do to you to deserve other than fresh food to begin with? and about this poor guy getting canned over out of date food.....that is why, at least in Michigan you have the right to protest the reason you were let go before your unemployment is denied.

Now I don't have a problem with the Gay community and all you homophobes, haters, or otherwise disturbed individuals, please get a grip and keep it zipped.
