The Best of the Decade: Musicals (Cinematical)
Dec 22nd 2009 7:54PM Wow. I just can't believe my favorite transexual musical of the decade is headlining this list, but the fact that people are up in arms passionately fighting about this "dead" genre is really something.
Yes, I love hairspray. Yes, any movie with a sincere and fun love song between Jhon Travolta and Christopher Walken is something to behold. But it doesen't have to be to anyone else but me.
On the other side I despised Chicago (a movie that didn't had any real reason to place it's musical numbers outside reality except cowardice) and hate the burton designs in "Cropse bride" that doesen't allow any charachter to have more than one expression (the sad one, the evil one, etc.). But in the end, I'm happy this list exists, I'm happy we have enough musicals on the big screen to fill a couple of top tens and I'm happy that people really care about their song and dance flicks.
Last complain: if you ask me, "Romance and Cigarretes" really deserves a spot in there.
Except that, of course, it didn't had any kind of proper release.
(By the way, Christopher Walken also dances on that one).
