Girls and Body Image (ParentDish)

Feb 24th 2011 5:27PM All I ever hear about are girls being pressured to be thin, well that's not what I experienced. I have always been very thin and small in general height, weight and figure and was constantly bullied about that! Being called flat chested with no curves and being accused of having an eating disorder when I never have. Guys grow up thinking little middle school and high school girls are “ugly freaks” if they don’t have a body like Beyonce and girls think it’s ok to pick on other girls if you don’t at least have the same kind of body they have. I think the main thing I remember about looking at ads in magazines was the fact that they never have acne like I did and a lot of other people do when they’re those ages. Obviously now I know what airbrushing and photoshop are.

Bold Hair Hues Lead to Suspension for 6th-Grader (ParentDish)

Feb 17th 2011 3:45PM It was like this everyday when I was in middle school and high school (in Texas). They spent so much time taking people out of class for wearing and kind of hair color, middle school it was shirt tucked in, only certain "shades" of the school colors, only white shoelaces, bunch of other stuff...high school it only got worse. You got taken out of class if you wore black pants, many other things. All that this accomplishes is that it makes it the kids more hostile every time towards the people that enforce these out of control rules. We had to wear polo shirts with only certain kinds of pants, and these were both public schools I went to. This girl's hair color is not hurting anyone, they claim distraction, guess what is more of a distraction-taking 5 people out of class before the class has even gotten started because they wore the wrong color jacket! They of course refuse to admit that them doing that is what actually causes a disruption. Distractions that actually happened: drugs, gossip, flirting, a gun incident once, tons of bomb threats one year, people skipping class to go screw around, teachers that just let all of these things happen cause they wanted to be the "cool" teacher.

20 Inch Nails: Atlanta Woman Grows Fingernails In Attempt to Meet Oprah (Stylelist)

Feb 2nd 2011 3:49PM Disgusting. I would also like to know how she manages to have the money to pay to "care" for them (if you can call it that) and people to do things for her when she clearly can't do anything with them that way! I wouldn't help someone like this I would say get a real life you have no reason to not be able to do things for yourself just so you can have these horrible looking nails. Please do NOT let her on Oprah this is the dumbest story i've seen lately.

Justin Bieber Joins PETA Campaign for Animal Adoption (PopEater)

Jan 20th 2011 12:37PM I'm not a fan of this guy, but still good for him for supporting adopting over buying.

People's Choice Awards Winners 2011: Johnny Depp, Kristen Stewart, Zac Efron Are Fan Favorites (Moviefone Blog)

Jan 6th 2011 2:28AM Johnny Depp was the only person I voted for that actually won anything. So other than him I was disappointed with it this year.

PETA Launches War Against Donkey Basketball (Asylum)

Dec 8th 2010 12:24AM I get it it's funny to see your teachers do goofy things when you're in school, but at the same time I do feel bad for the donkeys for if anything the noise that the crowd made, might have been spooking them.

CBS Officially Cancels 'Medium' (AOL TV)

Nov 19th 2010 12:41AM Medium is one of my favorite shows, it's the only show I even watch on Fridays. It was the only show on NBC I even watched, when it was still on NBC. I'm sick of my favorite well written quality shows being cancelled. I want to know where these so called ratings are coming from because none of those surveying companies has ever asked me or anyone I even know what we watch! I submitted a comment about my disappointment of this news on the CBS site's form for feedback, but they won't care unless over 10 million people were to do the same apparently. It has a horrible time slot and they kept moving it around before, do they not care that a lot of people also use dvrs now so they are actually watching just not at broadcast time.

Ryan Reynolds Named Sexiest Man Alive (PopEater)

Nov 17th 2010 12:50PM Good choice. Have none of these people ever seen him in the Proposal or The Amityville Horror? I can't believe so many people are saying "who"...he is a well known actor.

Patricia Arquette Says CBS Has Canceled 'Medium' (AOL TV)

Nov 17th 2010 12:38PM There's a few petitions if you just do a search for Medium petition, and everyone that wants it to stay on should send a comment to CBS

http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.php

Although I doubt they will care, I don't know why they think that everyone would rather watch reality show crap than a well written show. None of these so called rating companies have ever asked me about my viewing preferences!

Songs for Fall: 15 Awesomely Autumnal Tracks (Spinner)

Oct 9th 2010 1:30AM There are a lot of Type O Negative songs with Autumn/Halloween themes that i'd much rather listen to.
