Earth-Friendly Tech (Switched)

Apr 19th 2007 8:23PM I do owm and drive an electric only car that I converted from gas. Its a real blast to drive, though it won't go as fast as the TELSA does. But then again, it cost a lot closer to 15K than to 90K!! As to the BIG OIL idea that we would have much more air polution from power plants than we do now have from cars, NUTS! The power plants are much more tightly regulated than are cars. And no body takes a power plant home with them to monkey around with the engine to make it run BETTER by killing the polution controls, do they?
I just wish I had the money to start building conversions full time. I get lots of inquiries out here in OIL COUNTRY!!
QUESTIONS? email me ALLELECTRICCARS@AOL.COM

Science teachers reject free copies of "An Inconvient Truth" under pressure from ExxonMobil (Autoblog Green)

Dec 8th 2006 10:16AM OK SO MANY OF YOU LIKE TO RAIL ABOUT BIG OIL, THE BIGGER QUESTION IS "WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT?" . IF YOU OBJECT TO THE PROFITS OF BIG OIL, HAVE YOU CONSIDERED CUTTING BACK ON THE AMOUNT OF GAS YOU BUY? LIKE ALL COMPANIES, BIG OIL NOTICES WHEN ITS PROFITS GO DOWN. I LIVE IN OIL COUNTRY (WEST TEXAS), AND HAVE GROWN UP WORKING IN AND AROUND THE OIL COMPANIES, BUT I GOT TIRED OF THE HIGH GAS PRICES LAST YEAR AND DECIDED TO SEE WHAT I COULD DO TO CUT DOWN THE AMOUNT OF GAS I BOUGHT. WHAT I DID WAS DO (MYSELF) A CONVERSION ON A FORD ESCORT FROM GAS TO TOTAL ELECTRIC! THE ESCORT WAS CHEAP TO BUY ($50)AND AFTER THE CONVERSION, A REAL LAUGH TO DRIVE! IT IS VERY QUIET, AND HAS A TOP SPEED OF 75MPH. OF COURSE IT WONT GO THAT FAST FOR TOO LONG. BUT IT WILL TAKE ME TO AND FROM WORK AT 65 MPH WITHOUT A RECHARGE IN THE MIDDLE (A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 50 MILES). WITH THE CURRENT COST OF ELECTRICITY , IT COSTS ABOUT 1.8 CENTS PER MILE TO DRIVE!! DO I STILL OWN A GAS FUELED VEHICLE? OF COURSE I DO! I DRIVE MY EXPLORER 4X4 (24MPG) WHEN I GO ON LONG TRIPS, OR TO THE MOUNTAINS. THE ELECTRIC CAR JUST DOES NOT HAVE THE RANGE FOR THAT. BUT IT SURE HAS CUTDOWN THE AMOUNT OF GAS I BUY. SO IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT BIG OIL, DO SOMETHING MORE THAN JUST FLAP YOUR LIPS!!
OTHERWISE, ALL THAT LIP FLAPPING IS JUST NOISE!!

Ford dropping 600 dealerships (Autoblog)

Sep 18th 2006 11:44AM RE#4 Oh get real! You talk like Ford is the ONLY MOTOR COMPANY that has ever produced a questionable vehicle! Perhaps you are too young to remember the Chevy Corvair or the VEGA, but I am not. Ford has problems for sure, and dropping some of their dealers that are competing with each other may help get prices up. But the biggest things they need to do is quit paying some clown 25.00/hr to put a nut on a bolt and get a more complete warranty. If two items cost the same, and one come with a 90 day warranty and the other with a 5 year warranty, which would most people buy? As for Explorers rolling over, nonsense. I've driven my Explorer over 130,000 miles with no major problems. Of course I dont try to drive it like its a SPORTS CAR , and I do keep good (NOT FIRESTONE!) tires on it inflated to 40 lbs. It drives good, and responds well to sudden steering changes caused by idiots on their cell phones driving on the wrong side of the road or just stopping in the traffic lane so they can have an arguement with their phone!!! I would sure hate to see a lot folks up north out of work, but I would rather it be a buch of Yankees out of work than a single God Ol' Boy.
