Suddenly, Earth-Friendly E-Readers Are Everywhere 8 (Switched)

Sep 14th 2009 7:26AM E-readers are easy enough at the beach, etc. Just throw them in a plastic baggie. Makes them easier to read than a paperback would be in a plastic bag at least.

As to your books, with the kindle you can download the book to up to 6 devices. If your kindle does wear out, you can download to a new one (or an iphone, or any other devices that start using the kindle format). Now, if you're doing it from a strictly ecological standpoint how about learning to recycle the batteries, etc. that make up electronic devices? It'd be a much better way to go since we're just going to have more and more electronics in the future.

Suddenly, Earth-Friendly E-Readers Are Everywhere (Switched)

Sep 14th 2009 7:13AM Barney, I can tell you my 4 year old has no idea what the size of a pack of cigarettes is. He has (thankfully) never been around anyone who smokes.

As to the whole kindle debate, how many of you complaining about it own MP3 players? Cell phones? Other helpful electronics? That's all a kindle is really. Yes, its a luxury item and completely unnecessary. But I live in an area with a very crappy library and no bookstores. I also read 1-2 books/week. The kindle has been a brain-saver for me. Its extremely convenient in every way, very easy to read. I thought I would miss reading 'real' books, but truthfully now I have a hard time picking up a 'real' book. The kindle is that easy to read. As for its sales, as it is consistently back ordered I think amazon's doing okay with it.
