Geico Announcer Loses Job By Voicing Opinion (AOL Jobs)
Apr 29th 2010 11:10AM As an American, I find nothing wrong with a person voicing his/her opinion. The last time I checked, this sort of thing is protected by our Constitution, along with the right to bear arms. There is no racial slur or threat, only pointed questions. Are the "teabaggers" against free speach?
Undercover Boss Blows the Horn (AOL Jobs)
Mar 15th 2010 3:12PM I like the show but you mention one thing that bothered me the whole show. Why doesn't anyone see the guy with a camera? "What's he doing following us around?" At one point the cleaning lady talks to the camera about "Undercover Boss." Maybe it was take your camera crew to work day?
GOP's Steele Calls for Reid to Step Down as Leader Because of Racial Remarks (Politics Daily)
Jan 10th 2010 8:13PM Come on you guys. A few years ago, Eubonics, "black English," was supposed to be IN. By not speaking black English, Obama opened himself up to the entire population. So what's wrong with that? In England there was "B.B.C. English" or standardized English. Harry Lauder, the early 20th century Scottish comedian, became world famous, not only because he wrote some pretty good songs, but because he spoke standardized English, with a Scottish accent, so everyone could understand him. What's so racist about speaking so other people can understand you? What's so racist about recognizing that? What Trent Lott said and what Senator Reid said are two entirely different things.
Harry Reid Shouldn't Have Said It Out Loud, but How Many Think It? (Politics Daily)
Jan 10th 2010 7:22PM Come on you guys, a few years ago, eubonics, black English, was a coming thing. The senator said that Obama did not speak black English, he spoke in regular American -- what's the problem? I think he was right. An American who speaks like an American should be a more attractive political candidate than one who speaks with an Italian, German, French or "black" accent. In England they have what they call B.B.C. English, meaning a standardized English. In Germany, they have high German, the same thing as B.B.C. English. We should not speak in dialects so different that one county cannot understand what somebody from another county says. Ever hear of Harry Lauder, a Scottish commedian in the early part of the 20th century. He became world famous not only because he wrote some pretty good songs, but also because he spoke standard English, with a Scottish accent, so everybody could understand what he said. I personally don't care how good his eubonics is, if I can't understand what he says, I don't care what he says.
