Does the Kindle Beat Physical Books? -- Savings Experiment (WalletPop)

Jan 15th 2010 5:51PM I've owned my Kindle for 3 months and wouldn't want to go back to buying traditional books. It's nice carrying a whole library with you. We just came off a cruise and it was nice being able to download a new book and the daily newspaper while out to sea. I think you can compare e-books and paper books to vinyl records and CD's. When CDs' came out, many purists (myself included) claimed that it ruined the sound by taking out all the scratches and hisses that were on the original recording. We'd continue to talk about how much we enjoyed an old jazz record over its newly released CD. When I started to transfer some of my old vinyl records to CD, I realized how crappy they sounded. Now I'd never go back to listening to music from a "record player" when I can have it digitialy. Same way with paper books, in 5-10 years, they will be a thing of the past.

Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon Split (PopEater)

Dec 23rd 2009 5:48PM So I guess we can all blame their break-up on George Bush. It was all his fault, just ask Obama.

Is Obama Really President After Oath Flub? (Politics Daily)

Jan 21st 2009 3:19PM All you Demie's need to stop being so paranoid. If you take the time to listen to the clip, you actually hear it was said in jest and not meant to be serious. You all had 8 years to critize Bush and now if anyone says anything against President Obama you get bent out of shape. Its time to get a life and move forward

Blockbuster Heading for the Dustbins of History? (Switched)

Nov 6th 2007 1:53PM I've belonged to the Total Access Program for a long time. It's only 9.99 per month for one rental out at a time. I normally manage to get two movies per week. If I return a mail rental by noon, my next movie in my online arrives the next day. Only exception is if I turn one in on the weekend. I'm able to get two free rentals from the store each month (previously there wasn't a restriction, this is one change they made), and if I still need more movies, I can rent from the store for 1.99 if turning a mailer. Even with their recent membership changes, my pwe-rentals only average about 1.65. Its a great deal. I'm happier with Blockbuster more than I ever was with Netflix.

Best Free Stuff on the Internet: Movies (Switched)

May 17th 2007 11:36AM I belong to the Blockbuster Online 9.95 plan which allows one movie out at a time. Between turing them in at Blockbuster and the ones they send, I average about 4 movies a week. As long as I turn it by 11 each day, my next movie always arrives the next day. Course I guess it also helps in that the local distrubtion center for Online in my area is only about 60 miles away.

TiVo Series3: Worth $800? (Engadget HD)

Sep 7th 2006 2:13PM I've had a Tivo for over 5 years, upgrading from a Series 1 to a Series 2 because of the increased benefits (i.e. multiroom, Tivo To Go, etc). I just purchased a Sony 60 SXRD Television. Since Tivo didn't support HD, I dropped Direct TV and went with Comcast and their DVR for our HD. I didn't stay with Direct TV because they required a 2 year commitement and didn't offer my local stations in HD. I'd probably love the Comcast DVR if I never had Tivo, but I'm spoiled by Tivo. The difference between Tivo and Comast DVR is night and day. Little thing that were so common place with Tivo are not supported by Comcast (i.e season pass, multi-room). If Tivo does offer a rebate and honors my lifetime subscription, I'll probably be the first one in line to buy it when it is released. I miss my Tivo.
