Aug 19th 2010 9:13PM Should we humans soar through the skies like so many graceful birds? Is it natural for our footed kind to race through the atmosphere at 900 feet per minute?
As you can possibly tell, I have a fear of flying. No gliders for me.
Facebook Accidentally Deletes Palin's Anti-Mosque Post, Promptly Apologizes (Switched)
Jul 23rd 2010 4:07PM @ John D. Larsen
"Close ties to Hamas" is, from what I understand, not entirely accurate. (Please send links if you know otherwise.) You should definitely check out Wright's piece in the NYT, in which he examines the web of misinformation that's being spun by the Weekly Standard. To quote him, "the real estate developer for the project has a business partner who has an uncle (you still with us?) who dramatically affirmed his support for Hamas after the recent blockade-running flotilla incident."
At the same time, the imam Feisal Abdul Rauf's wife "has an uncle who used to be 'a leader' of a mosque that now has a Web site that links to the Web site of an allegedly radical organization." So it's a pretty tangled story.

This Is the Worst App Ever: Text While Walking With 'Road SMS' (Switched)
Jul 15th 2010 10:21AM @David
Alas, I was not at Switched at the time that post was written. Good catch, though.
Terrence and I may disagree on whether walking and texting is good idea -- we may have to kick each other in the nethers to come to a consensus. (Still, Terrence did point out, "Of course, this will only show you what's directly in front of the camera, so you'll still have to be careful of low hanging tree branches and telephone poles.") But I stand by my assertion that, regardless of platform, this app and any of its kind are bad. BAD.
Bruce Munro's Sea of 600,000 Used CDs (Switched)
Jun 24th 2010 4:03PM @Mace
Why buy new CDs when millions are used and unwanted? Munro plans to send the discs to a recycling plant in France when the exhibition is over.
And, for an artist, I'm pretty sure that creating a large-scale installation would be considered "productive."

Or perhaps it's my Verizon phone that won't allow it without a Verizon SIM. Either way, it ain't much use without data.

Wish I could be using Glass while wandering around Amsterdam this morning. Sadly this prepaid SIM I got doesn't allow tethering.
