School Says No to Yearbook Photo of Gay Girl in Tux (ParentDish)

Oct 12th 2010 8:31AM As always, the religious rich believes it is free to impose its sick, twisted beliefs on everyone else, even when no harm to anyone is being done.

Most of the problems of the world are, and always have been, cause by religion. Mankind will never truly be free until the black yoke of religion is lifted by the clear light of truth and rational thinking.

Where Is Chuck Norris? (Urlesque)

Feb 10th 2010 3:09PM Considering that Chuck Norris will be 69 next month, I suspect he is relaxing more with his children and second wife. Yes, he;s still active in the United Fighting Arts Federation, the martial arts organization he founded, but he doesn't need to make more movies or TV shows. He's earned his kick-back (no pun intended) time.

Thanks again Chuck, for all you've done for me.

All about EPUB, the ebook standard for Apple's iBookstore (TUAW.com)

Feb 5th 2010 9:30AM Anyone that downloads an ebook for any site where you have to pay for it is just plain stupid. I have over 800 ebooks on my computer and my tablet PC that I found for free.

These are not all old "public domain" books, either. r example, I have all of the Dan Brown books, including the latest one, "The Lost Symbol" which I found the very day it was released in bookstores.

The iPad does nothing that I can't do on my 10 y/o tablet PC except tie you into Apple's store where they can delete your content at will.

I've been a Mac used for over 20 years, but I won't allow Apple, Microsoft or anyone else to dictate prices, content, and use of my files.

Travel annoyance #47: Paying for hotel Internet access has GOT to stop (Gadling)

Nov 29th 2009 4:30PM I have never been charged for internet access in a hotel room. Neither here in Brazil, the USA, or Europe. Last September, I traveled all over Europe for a month and never paid for access either from my room or at free terminals in hotel lobbies.

In my own experience, free access has been the norm since at least 2000 when I traveled extensively through out the Southeastern USA. Methinks he doth protest too much.

Nov 25th 2009 12:38PM What's even more important this could make SSDs the standard storage medium even faster than they will be with current technology. Not only will the be faster, more reliable, and energy efficient, they'll take up far less room for equivalent storage.

Australia's Beach Girls Make Everyone Uncomfortable (Asylum)

New Microsoft Ad Shows How PCs Are Always Cheaper Than Macs (Switched)

Sep 9th 2009 9:20AM As usual, Micro$oft distorts the truth when they don't actually lie.

Having used PCs and Macs side-by-side for years, I think I have a right to an informed, logical opinion.

Yes, the purchase price of a Mac is more. That could be because the quality is far better. With my 2.66 GHz iMac, even the keyboard is the best I have ever seen. One solid piece of aluminum about 1/4" thick with keys that feel better than any PC KB ever.

Also, the cost of the software is a fraction of that for a PC. My video editor, Final Cut Express, can be purchased for about $150. An equivalent program that I used on a PC is Sony Vegas. At the time, it was $700. Other software when it isn't free, is similarly cheaper. When you consider this and the fact that the only hardware failures of any kind I have ever had on a Mac were those that were my own fault, the cost of owning one is far cheaper than any PC.

Add in the lack of frustration over OS and other software failures and the fact that the Mac DOES run PC games better and faster than the PC without a dual-boot system or using a Windows emulator, there is no real choice. Just the difference between ignorance and prejudice and being an informed user.
