Samoas and Social Networking: Girl Scout Cookies Get Linked Up (Switched)

Mar 7th 2010 5:47PM I guess I'm disappointed when I see the girls looking kind of "scruffy" wearing jeans and t-shirts with just a sash identifying them as Girl Scouts. I remember getting dressed up in the full uniform and wanting to look my best when I went out to sell cookies

Why You Should Never Freeze Coffee (and Other Freshness Tips) (Luxist)

Feb 22nd 2010 7:53PM Like EmmaPeel, I roast my own green beans--and have for several years. I do it both to have better, fresher coffee and to save money. I know the plantation my coffee was grown on, and I roast it the day before I grind it . . . in a burr grinder, please . . . then brew it in a Melita or press pot and enjoy the best coffee around while saving a bundle. If you go through a lot of coffee, it probably doesn't have the chance to deteriorate too badly, but I have noticed a difference since I started roasting and would rather come home and brew my own than sit and waste time and money in a restaurant (or Starbucks). My father doesn't drink much coffee and freezes it, probably going through a pound in 6-9 months. I won't drink it at his house, but he seems happy enough with it.

Starbucks prices up, and down, too (WalletPop)

Aug 21st 2009 6:28PM I roast my own coffee (and love it) so used to go to Starbucks only for the flavored/fun coffees. Then I started making those at home, too. Better conversation, comfier chairs, and more money to spend on something I really need.
