Treesje's Laura Darrah and Sheila Nazarian: From Bridesmaids to Business Partners (AOL Small Business)
May 16th 2011 9:19AM Faith, the anger is a reaction to the ingenuous manner in which these so called 'working women' were portrayed. They may be successful, but the 'rags to riches' tagline which was used to lure readers to this story was infuriating. The anger directed towards these wealthy socialites is understandable, when you take into consideration the financial struggles of most of us reading this article. One of these women flat out states that when she finished college that she did not want to get a 'real job'. How precious. Who really wants to line the already full pockets of a wealthy debutante who's clientele are stupid enough to plunk down $500 to $700 for a HANDBAG, or $190 for a BELT? Not me. And I feel justified in being disgusted by their noblesse oblige attitudes.
Treesje's Laura Darrah and Sheila Nazarian: From Bridesmaids to Business Partners (AOL Small Business)
May 12th 2011 8:25AM Um, hello? How misleading is this entire interview? Don't give us trust fund baby success stories and try to make it sound like anyone can do what these two did.
These girls come from serious MONEY. As in the one saying ..."After I got my MBA, I didn't want to get a real job, so I traveled and I went all over South East Asia and Australia..." Gee, must be nice not to scramble to begin paying student loans--for your OMG --HOW MANY YEARS of college for a masters degree--and go traipsing all over the place on mommy and daddy's dime. Ugh.
And later in the article the same little rich girl says " Nordstrom placed an order after our first trade show in January 2005, so we went to our parents and said we needed some money." There was never any real risk involved for these brats. The had a huge cushion to fall back on, unlike most young people trying to get ahead in the world.
So the whole, 'Look at us! We started our successful business with $1000 a piece' spin is ridiculous. Same old story. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. These are $500 handbags these rich bimbos are selling. Not to me, obviously. I actually have to worry about paying my own way in the world.
Authorities Decide NOT to Look in Virginia Landfill for Missing Black Teen (BV Black Spin)
May 12th 2011 8:02AM Remember that case some years ago with the crazy guy who pretended to be have been accepted into medical school and wasn't really? His name was Mark Hacking. He eventually confessed that he had killed his pregnant wife when she found out what he was scamming everyone and dumped her body in the trash. Crews searched for the body for TWO MONTHS and eventually, they found Lori Soares's remains(her last name had been 'Hacking'--although her married name was understandably and pointedly removed from the headstone on her grave).
This is deplorable. D.C. is the Capital of our great country, for heaven's sake. They should not treat this poor young woman's family like second class citizens. Find Latisha Frazier's body and allow her family the dignity of burying what's left of her. This young girl's family deserves the same compassion that Lori Soares and her family received.
Emotional Vampires: The 5 Most Common Types -- And How to Slay Them (MyDaily)
Jan 31st 2011 8:43AM Ugh. My ex co-worker is a textbook example of an EV. She's truly does have a ton of really crappy stuff going on in her life and you want to be sympathetic, but her behaviour puts people off to the point that they've dropped her like a hot rock. She shows up at our workplace and hangs around watching me work, and then gets peaved because I can't stop to listen to her complain about her life.
Houston Passenger Brought Loaded Pistol on Plane (AOL Travel News)
Dec 17th 2010 9:38AM And there, in a nutshell, is why I no longer fly. 70% failure rate? The people who missed this handgun were 'disciplined but not fired'? Really? And for this result they justify the government sanctioned sexual molestation of American citizens by very poorly trained TSA workers, in what amounts to an illegal search and, if they feel particularly beligerant or disgruntled with their horrid job that day, humiliation and seizure of anyone they take a disliking to. For this they irradiate our bodies without sufficient study as to the cummulative affects of repeated body scans.
Miley Cyrus Caught Taking Bong Hits of Salvia: 'Is It Me Tripping?' (PopEater)
Dec 10th 2010 7:20AM I don't care what the substance was in the bong, legal or otherwise, she is behaving like a skank. How very sad that someone with such a promising future just four years ago should begin to crash and burn so early into her career.
I bet every parent that ever bought into the Hannah Montana franchise's brand by buying products with her image on them would like to burn the memory of this soon to be train wreck out of their little girls' minds. What a shame.
Noah's Ark Park to Open in Kentucky (AOL Travel News)
Dec 7th 2010 3:11PM It sounds like a cool project to whom? The other, blech, place disguised as a museum that you mention is NOT educational, and is entertaining only in the respect that it is fuel for stand up comedy (haha...did you hear about the Creationist Museum in Kentucky? They have murals of Jesus riding a dinosaur!). You can't truly believe that that place is educational.
Noah's Ark Park to Open in Kentucky (AOL Travel News)
Dec 7th 2010 2:57PM The Creation 'Museum' (it galls me to even type the word) was horrible enough. This is even more insane. Tax subsidies for this abomination ought to be illegal.
I've yet to have a 'young earth' fundamentalist Christian explain to me how Adam and Eve made two sons --yeah--that would be two MALE offspring--,and then this family group of four 'begat' the rest of humanity. Incest, much?
Makeover Diaries: A Beach Babe Turned Soccer Mom (Stylelist)
Dec 6th 2010 3:03PM Roni...you just made my point quite nicely. Southern woman (and yes, I live in the south and have lived elsewhere, and have the experiences to compare) are trained from the cradle to be passive aggressive toward other women. They drip honey while they'll plot to ruin your social status if they don't like you. What you call "pride' is very often a code word for "you don't have a first name that was your mother's maiden name so you can't play in our sandbox". Meow, honey, meow.
Makeover Diaries: A Beach Babe Turned Soccer Mom (Stylelist)
Dec 6th 2010 2:26PM This article disturbs me. Stepford wife southern belle soccer mom BULLIES made this woman feel like she had to conform to their way of dressing/hairstyle/make up, so she stopped doing things that made her feel good about herself in order to fit in with the herd. And she wants everyone to applaud her for it. I wonder when she'll realize that they may all invite her over to play Bunco now, but they'll STILL talk about her behind her back after a few apple-tinis. Southern women are the worst at making others feel inferior with a glance. Don't become one of them.
To thine own self be true.
