Plus Size Shapewear (Shopping Articles Blog)
Oct 31st 2011 2:33PM I might be, but you'd have to fight off my fiance first. :) He loves that I look like a woman instead of a skeleton. They're called "love handles" for a reason; it gives him something to grab onto.
Plus Size Shapewear (Shopping Articles Blog)
Oct 31st 2011 2:27PM I would gladly lose weight if you can tell me how to do it while on prescription medications that have weight gain as a side effect. One of them, I gained 30 pounds in the first 3 months, and 50+ pounds in the first year, without changing my diet/exercise habits. My doctor forbids me to eat less than 1000 calories a day, the minimum for proper nutrition, but even on 500 calories the weight wasn't coming off. Until Big Pharma can make prescriptions that work without messing up my metabolism, I'm stuck with the extra weight.
And, no, Tom, I'm not out of shape. I can lift a 250-pound man without breaking a sweat. Can you?

Oct 31st 2011 2:26PM A good department store (like Macy's) should have a certified bra fitter on staff -- call for an appointment. She can also help you select shapewear.
First-Born Boys Demand More Mommy Time (ParentDish)
Apr 24th 2011 10:03AM I've been married twice, to two first-born boys with younger sisters. Both had the Royal Entitlement mentality, that it was women's job to do all the household chores while Their Majesties watched TV. And both eventually extended that to "you earn enough to pay the bills so why should I get a job?"
In talking to their sisters, I discovered that when they were kids, both men had threatened the girls to get their sisters to do their share of the chores, and being much bigger than their sisters, got away with it.
Fatter Passengers Mean Change in Boat Rules (AOL Travel News)
Apr 6th 2011 12:43AM Don't be so cocky. I was 5'7" and 117 pounds. Then a doctor prescribed something with weight gain as a side effect and I gained 30 pounds in the first 3 months without changing my diet or exercise habits. The weight gain slowed down after that, but after a year on that RX, I'd gained 60 pounds, and as a result of the change in my metabolism, even on 500 calories a day (starvation diet, forbidden by my current doctor) I don't lose weight.
Fixing Your Credit After a Bankruptcy to Apply for a Mortgage (AOL Real Estate)
Mar 7th 2011 3:59PM If you've LEARNED from your bankruptcy, then not a problem to get a credit card afterward, if you use it responsibly. My ex, however, learned only that he could buy whatever he wanted and not have to pay for it. Within a year after the BK, he already had a fistful of credit cards, all of them maxed out already, and no more credit available to him so he couldn't continue to use Visa to pay Mastercard.
Although he blames the split, the reality is, he was already in serious trouble before the split; his ENTIRE paycheck went to minimum payments while I paid 100% of our living expenses, and frequently I had to chip in toward his credit card payments, too, so I wasn't fielding dozens of collection calls when I was trying to relax.
When his new girlfriend insisted that he pay exactly half the rent/utilities/groceries, and refused to pay his Visa bill for him, he had two options: get a second job or go BK. He took the easy out.
Odds Better for Finding Future Spouse at Work than on Most Dating Sites (AOL Jobs)
Feb 13th 2011 8:34PM Another good place is in professional groups. I've had a couple of relationships that started that way; it's someone you can "talk shop" with the way most partners can't, can appreciate the hassles of what you go through (much as I love my sister, she can't relate to my complaints the way a colleague can). I said something to the latest partner about "you know how that goes", and got immediate sympathy, rather than having to relive the problem in explaining it to Sis. No, the relationships haven't (yet) ended at the altar, but they were fun while they lasted.
Why First Impressions Last, for Better or Worse (AOL Jobs)
Jan 22nd 2011 10:15PM Amen! I've had blind dates not even say hello because they got the wrong impression just from looking at me across the room (later corrected when they complained to the intermediary "how could you set me up with someone like that?!") Unless the guy says something I absolutely positively can't deal with on the first date (like the guy who wanted a dozen children), I'll always give a man a second date just to see if he grows on me or if he's less nervous the second time. Some men are much better when they're relaxed and not trying so hard.
How to Get a New Year's Eve Date on Short Notice (Lemondrop)
Dec 29th 2010 11:47AM While this may work in NY, it does not work in California. The only people in Calif who talk to strangers are expatriate New Yorkers. I've tried a zillion times to start conversations in supermarkets, coffee shops, buses, etc., and they ignore me entirely (unless they're fellow native New Yorkers). I thought it was just me, but talking to some other transplants have discovered everyone gets the same reaction: the cute redhead, the fat black woman, the attractive male lawyer in an expensive 3-piece suit...
My Unemployed Life: The Forgotten Woman (AOL Jobs)
Nov 27th 2010 5:48PM Mollee, you are not alone. When I lost my job, my "friends" abandoned me, afraid I might ask for help. Like you, because I'm single and childless, there was not a single government program available to me. (But if I'd had a one night stand and got knocked up by a stranger, there would've been plenty of resources.) Since I have the added problem of being disabled, it was even harder for me to get a job. So I hired myself. If you'd like to move to Northern California, I can offer you a room.
