Were You Born to Cheat? (Lemondrop)

Jun 11th 2009 3:49PM I believe cheating could be in our genetics. In a generalization, a man wants to spread his seed and a woman wants the best man to father her children. It may piss a lot of people off comparing apes with humans but here maybe an example (sorry). Baboons live in small groups with a dominant male. When females are ready to have young they let this dominant male know they are ovulating due to dramatic "physical" changes. It is said, people (humans/cavemen) lived in the same sort of groups long ago. On the other hand, women have hidden ovulation and that gives them an edge. A cave woman could run off to another group and hook up with a better mate instead of the dominant male in her group. Years later, all this is vestigial, we found out now that everyone lives longer and better through civilization, being monogamous as one of its virtues.
