Best Free Stuff on the Internet: Movies (Switched)
May 17th 2007 11:00AM I subscribe to Blockbuster Online, unlimited rentals 3 at at time. They have an excellent catalogue of hard to find films and classics. I take each mailed one back to the store, they exchange it for any other DVD movie or game in the store and they log my returns in on the spot. Within 1-2 days Blockbuster Online has shipped me my next DVD(s) from my queue and so I have up to 6 DVD's at once. I usually get a brand new release right away, often before it's generally available in-store. I just return their in-store DVD's within their grace period, no late fees, one flat fee. Also, the DVD's I've received by mail as well as in-store have been flawless.
Friends who use Netflix have found Netflix just slows down their delivery if they average more than 3 DVD's a week, as though they were put on "an S-List" at Netflix. Maybe that's what happened to Kelly above...
Hoff Stumbles Out of Vegas; What's Next for Las Vegas Shows? (Vegas Popular Blog)
May 13th 2007 1:58AM Ah, #8, Eddie, yours is a non sequitur and you exaggerate! Half the world is not blowing up, half the world is not starving, The Immigration Act of 1954 and The Immigration Reform Act of 1986 make perfect sense (you have to qualify for the privilege to legally immigrate into the USA, it's not a Right), a fruit fruitcake sadly shoots up VA Tech and by happenstance breaks a record set in TX in the Sixties by a depressed individual, the sky is not falling down. Here a video that the subject requested be made by his family was made but it got out. The subject, then making the best of it, publically says he hopes someone else learns from watching it like he did. Hooray. Videotaping drunks in Japan (where saving face is a cultural norm) is now standard practice by its police; they make the drunk watch the video once sobered up: it works. Just a few of many lessons to see, learn from and for you to absorb here : 1) alcohol is not good for you; 2)never do or say anything you wouldn't want to see published in The New York Times; 3) there is a proper forum for everything and you chose the wrong one here.
Why do I keep thinking Dr. Z is a phony? (AdJab)
Aug 13th 2006 8:42PM I think people just think he's just a character actor. He's also a bit TOO Teutonic as a spokesperson.
The same thing happened in Canada years ago when a brewer's actual Brew Master did ads; sales dropped. The man was just a little too "Third Reich" in his presentation and people didn't like him or buy his beer.
