Who cares if the Post Office ends Saturday delivery? Short answer: No one (WalletPop)

Mar 6th 2010 12:39PM Funny, but Saturday is the busiest day at our local post office. Many people don't get off in time during the week to make it to the post office before it closes and therefore mail or pick-up packages on the weekend. Then, each day the post office is not open due to a holiday and now perhaps to closing Saturdays, slows down the delivery by one day or even more. So the important letter or package you may have gotten on Monday will now come on Tuesday or even Wednesday. Meaning, every time the post office is closed one day, the mail gets back-logged

Why 'Bachelor' Jake Pavelka Made the Right Decision (PopEater)

Mar 2nd 2010 3:39PM Vienna is the only girl I liked from the beginning. Tenley is boring, talks about herself and her failed marriage over and over, and Ali is annoying and arrogant,
Vienna, you go, girl! Good luck to you and Jake!

Kravitz Penthouse Sale Finally Goes His Way (Housingwatch)

Jan 20th 2010 3:46AM It always amazes me when people say, "we live in the richest country on earth." This, the "richest country on earth" has a national debt of $12,297,836,521,011 = $12.3 TRILLION!!!!!

Personal checks poised to be a relic (WalletPop)

Nov 25th 2009 6:08AM I have noticed that many companies and facilities one sends monthly payments to are frequently changing their due dates, which can be a difference from 5 to 10 days. One utility bill used to be due every 15th of the month. Suddenly, and without announcement, they made the bill due on the 4th of the month. Big difference, if for years one paid that bill out of the middle-of-the-month paycheck when it now, out-of-the-blue falls into the beginning-of-the-month's paycheck (and utility bills are always high). And I've noticed many other companies are doing it, too. It is like they are so desperate, they want late-payment fees from their customers (when the same customers never had any!). One bill had been due at the middle of the month for years. Secretly, they changed it to the beginning of the month. I totally ignored that bill until the middle of the month when it was time to pay it (for years). Surprise, surprise, I saw I am now 2 weeks late on a payment. I thought about getting me a laywer. But they knew they were wrong and did not charge a late fee after I complained about their underhanded business dealings. They tried. And several others did the same thing. Now, all is back to where it had been for years. It is unbelievable! Had I opened the bill sooner, I would have noticed. But I simply didn't because for many years, it had been due at the middle of the month.

Personal checks poised to be a relic (WalletPop)

Nov 25th 2009 5:42AM I had a woman in line in front of me the other day who was yapping on her cell phone during check-out. The cashier had to tell her 5 times what her purchases were before she heard it. Then she walked off, forgetting her grocery bags, yapping all the while. She held up the line a lot longer than any check writer I have ever seen.

Nov 25th 2009 5:27AM I like control of my bank account. The worst scenario to me would be if I paid my bills electronically, where these companies (utility, etc.) have access and control of my personal checking account and each month go and get their money by themselves. Too many incidences of double billing, billing at the wrong time (one's paycheck isn't there yet, etc.) No, I want to keep sole control of my account and will be writing checks until they start putting high fees on the check writers and then I will have to find another solution.

Daughter Reports Mom's Pot Plants to Police (ParentDish)

Oct 17th 2009 3:08AM There are many people who would not smoke it even if it were legal, even if it were free and legal. I'm one of those people. So make it legal and stop this stupid and costly war on drugs.

High Heels Trip Up Gaetano Navarra's Milan Show (Stylelist)

Sep 29th 2009 8:05PM Kudos to that model! I have a friend who always wore those horrible high heels and pointed toes and now her feet are so deformed she now can't even walk a quarter of a mile anymore in very comfortable shoes without severe pain. Wished, those awful designers would stop this stupid fad once and for all.

OECD warns high unemployment could last years (Daily Finance)

Sep 28th 2009 4:56PM Watch out. I'm in the health care business and it has been overrun with people changing their career and now the nurses are complaining they don't work enough anymore. Too many nurses have been hired. Some get called only once or twice a month where I work. Not enough to make a livig anymore.
