Dec 29th 2009 9:55AM I too, want to be able to choose the channels for which I am paying the cable company. Right now, I am paying for a lot of channels in Spanish (which I don't speak), shopping channels which I never use, many channels with our local politicians (most of whom seem to be crooks) and many duplicate channels (MLB is on 149 and 400, for example). Some years ago, I think the US Senate held hearings on whether the American people should be allowed to choose which channels we want. Obviously no bill was passed to give us the great privilege of choosing how we are allowed to spend our hard-earned money.

Dec 3rd 2009 4:58PM A lot of companies do exactly what Amazon does, rounding down on workers' time. It's so common that it could almost be considered standard business practice. I worked for a company that did it. They told us they did it, but if we wanted to keep our jobs, what could we do?

May 7th 2008 1:25PM When I was in law school there was a woman in our class who was exceptionally plain - rather fat, mousy hair, dressed in polyesther and didn't seem to have much personality. Men loved her. They followed her everywhere. I could never understand her attraction for them. She had the highest grades in the class and at first I thought that she was admired for her intelligence. But I don't think that was it. Most of the faculty was male and whatever drew the male students to her also drew the professors and made them give her high grades. Wow! I wish I could find out her secret.

Apr 30th 2008 10:56AM For once, I really enjoyed a lot of the comments posted here - especially that of S1994s. (I was a Brooklyn Dodger fan who didn't stick with the team when they moved and now rather wish I had - but I was a child then). As for Bonds, aside from Barry himself, I may be the only person in America who feels rather sorry for him. He seems to have used steroids at a time when it was legally ok. But it's his personality that keeps him out of baseball and I'll bet deep inside, Barry wishes he could be better at conforming.
