'The Bachelorette' Must Make a Highly Emotional Choice (VIDEO) (AOL TV)

Jul 13th 2010 1:54PM If she wants a happy life, she needs to choose Chris. They have similar backgrounds, the same idea of marriage, and they both know about the necessity of sacrifice in a relationship. Kirk was all about Kirk. It amused me to hear they call him, "Kirky." At first I thought they said, "Turkey," which, well. . . Okay, I can go with that one. But, why, WHY is she keeping that Eeyore Frank around??? If she's that into rescue, she should dump them all and go work with the nuns in India or somewhere, saving people who are REALLY needy, and not just some idiot who loves drama, and wants to keep her off balance to attract her attention and sympathy. BTW, Frank isn't just "not good looking," he actually looks like someone who is part Down's Syndrome. Don't ruin your kids' looks, Ali, go for the cute Cape Codder with the loving, supportive family!!!

Claudia Schiffer in Dark Makeup and Afro - Offensive or Edgy? (Stylelist)

Jun 4th 2010 5:13PM Okay, this article -- not the photo -- is what shows prejudice. Why would wanting to look black be an insult to anyone? Isn't being black just as beautiful as being white? I am so tired of people acting as if telling someone they look black, or dressing up in "black" clothing, or putting on make-up that makes them look black is somehow degrading to someone!! It's a compliment. (And yes, Claudia Schiffer actually makes black look dreadful, but that's not the point.)

When are we going to pay the ultimate compliment of not equating skin tone, real or artificial, with anything except. . . skintone??

Get off it, people!

'Supersize' Families: The Joy of Having 8-Plus Kids (ParentDish)

May 20th 2010 12:22AM The problem is not the overpopulation of the Earth, but the under-population of the brain cells in your mind. You are worried about problems that may not exist in 50 years. After all, aren't you worried there won't be enough horses to pull the wagons of produce to town? No? That's because that worry has been solved. We found a better way. And future generations will find a better way, too!

(BTW, anyone who is worried about "using up" all the Earth's water needs another 4th grade lesson in "The Water Cycle". No water gets "used up." It all gets recycled, one way or another. Sheesh. You people!)

May 20th 2010 12:16AM You go, girl! You prove the fact that kids from large families are the ones who will save this Earth, and its culture from destruction. You are literate, intelligent and informed, and it was a joy to read your post. I am the third child, eldest daughter of 20, and although I now am the mother of five of my own, I remember people feeling sorry for me, that I had to share everything. Poor them! If only they understood that a treasure is only a treasure if it can be shared!

God bless you and your wonderful family!

May 20th 2010 12:04AM So, the homeschooled large families can't spell? Gee, I'm a (former) homeschooling mom, and I'm a multi-lingual published author, artist and teacher. However, you are a loud critic who doesn't seem to be able to write a cohesive sentence. If you wish to call someone out on their lack of erudition, the best solution is to actually have some, yourself.

Translation: Keep quiet and let people think you're stupid, instead of opening your mouth and proving it.

May 19th 2010 11:49PM Overpopulated by whose standards? I'm assuming you've never driven through West Texas, where there's miles and miles of. . . miles and miles! And there are tons of places on this Earth that are completely uninhabited. You've bought into a lie that says we have to take over God's job of deciding how many people to send to Earth because, after all, we know so much better than He does. He's the only one who knows, folks, and if He chooses to send kids, we (having had the fun of doing what it takes to make them) should be happy with His choice. The only people who should limit the number of children they have are those that believe that, being so inferior to the rest of us, they don't deserve to pass on their DNA. Personally, I have 5 kids by choice (actually I would've loved to have more, but God saw fit to give me these and so I'm happy). I am also the third of 20 kids -- 6 biological, 14 adopted. God sent all of them, too.

I say, vote on the issue of how many kids to have by limiting yourself to what you believe your DNA is worth to the world. Then, in a very few years, there will be many more of us, and many fewer of you. Thank God.

Stepfather of Slain Patrick Dennehy to Protest Hire of 'Devil' Dave Bliss (Fanhouse NCAA Basketball Blog)

May 14th 2010 9:49AM What we have here is a badly written article, in which those of us who know nothing about the case in question (and that would be most of us) are not enlightened by a brief summary of the events that transpired. The fault of all this disagreement is the fault of the writer for not giving full disclosure. The questions I had after reading it were: HOW was the tuition being paid? With what funds WAS Dennehy paying his tuition? Was Bliss actually AWARE that Dennehy had met with foul play? Unfortunately, much of the news and opinion pieces we are given by the media are badly written and inflammatory, so that we get angry about misinformation, and end up with an opinion about the case that might not be based on fact.

I, too, have lost children. It is heartbreaking to know there is a place in a cemetary where your offspring lie. It is worse, I imagine, when someone has taken that child's life on purpose. I feel really bad for Dennehy's parents and family. But, at the same time, Bliss has to work and earn money to pay for all the things we all have to pay for. Maybe this time of difficulty and the knowledge that his past follows him will be enough to keep him on the straight and narrow. I don't know. But, you can't deny someone the opportunity to support themselves. If Allen is giving Bliss this opportunity, then I'm sure they will keep Bliss' past in mind when dealing with him.

I pray that Dennehy's parents and family come to a place of peace and forgiveness toward the situation, and can incorporate this event into the course of their lives by celebrating their son's life. By not forgiving Bliss, they give him too much power in their lives. They need to take back the power, and make the free choice to accept what has happened and forgive. It's much harder to do it than to say it, I'm sure.

'I Went on a Cash-Only Diet' -- My Life on the Suze Orman Plan (Lemondrop)

May 12th 2010 9:55AM "Giving up city coffee and lunches out are difficult things for those of us who work long hours."

I have 5 kids and four jobs, sweetie; you've NEVER worked long hours like I work long hours, so just sit down and sip your latte, and be quiet like the nice, little naive child you obviously are.

'I Went on a Cash-Only Diet' -- My Life on the Suze Orman Plan (Lemondrop)

May 12th 2010 12:28AM Wow. I thought I was going to learn how to save money. I really did. Silly me. If I racked up a week of spending like this woman does, I wouldn't have a dime left for my normal expenses. Of course, how can we expect one whole woman to exist in anything resembling normalcy on only - gasp! - 40 K per year!! Why, the very idea gives one chills! Poor, wretched woman. . .

I am a single mother of 5 kids, not receiving child support, dealing with Lupus and Fibromyalgia, who made just over 16K last year. This article did nothing for me except to let me know that overpriviledged, self-centered people consider themselves virtuous if they don't "cheat" on their "cash-only diet" more than a handful of times in a handful of days. It is absolutely disgusting to me that this woman has no more self-discipline than this. After two months, with only herself to support, she has only saved $800? She doesn't deserve a medal, an article or even a mention. She is deluding herself if she thinks she has done something extraordinary, and she is deluding you if you believe it really cost her anything except some thought and a bit (a very little bit) of humility. The whole thing is ridiculous when you think of how many people are out of work, trying to make ends meet, or in deep debt through no fault of their own. Good luck, guest blogger. You're going to need it if real life ever jumps up and bites you in the butt.

National Day of Prayer Unconstitutional, Judge Rules (Politics Daily)

Apr 16th 2010 10:00AM Establishing a "National Day of Prayer" will not make those who do not wish to pray, pray. It will also not prevent those who are already praying from continuing to do so. We celebrate Thanksgiving Day. To whom do we give thanks for what we have, than to the Creator? That is, if we can tear ourselves away from the football games and the turkey long enough to do so.

Get real, folks. This is an arbitrary event. Man-made, not something written in granite. If you don't want to pray, don't. If you do, you'll pray whether or not it's official. Duh!
