Aug 2nd 2010 10:04AM My mum had a PC.. but since using my iPad, which used my iPad whenever I was driving my folks around... they're in their late 60's... it is much easier for them to stay in touch...
So I bought them one... offloaded the PC.
Never looked back.

They try really hard to hide actual content but fully automate advertisements which the user cannot avoid...
If this is the model that places like Fox and other Newscorp outlets will spruik then they will die a quick and cold dead in App land...
I will never buy a news App for the very reason that, like game and other Apps... I am already paying to stop the advertisements, I am not paying the vendor to chew up my bandwidth and download limits on SPAM i am already trying to keep out of my email in-box.
I already paid for the news, I did not pay for the vendor to chew up my download limit!

May 17th 2010 9:11PM Facebook system is arrogant and assumes that the user wants their profile sold to advertisers, spammers and other websites without consent.
Hiding the profile requires and intricate navigation of the system and facebook pushes questions and emotional heart strung resistance saying your friends will miss you if you leave... manipulation to young minds for Zuckerbergs ego.
Close your account.

It's lighter than the in-flight clunkers they rent... it holds more data and can be set up wirelessly to the the planes in-flight LAN :-)
It would also reduce the weight of the plane cargo and allow more to be used in flight... Bring it on!
