iOS 4.3.2 rumored to arrive within two weeks (TUAW.com)
Apr 8th 2011 1:43AM I agree, a tethered jailbreak is pretty useless. That's why I waited until the untethered 4.3.1 exploit was released!

Apr 7th 2011 12:38PM Wonder if this will break the 4.3.1 jailbreak. I like my jailbroken phone and non-stock sounds!
I may not worry about it too much, because I haven't had wifi or battery issues yet. We shall see.
iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak available, but not for iPad 2 (TUAW.com)
Apr 4th 2011 1:27PM redsn0w has fewer options and displays step-by-step instructions to follow. That one should be pretty easy.

Apr 4th 2011 1:26PM I think you should be fine as long as you're running 4.3.1. Just follow the redsn0w instructions and you'll probably be set.

Apr 4th 2011 11:17AM Untethered means you can reboot your device without being connected to a computer and it will load into the jailbroken state. Tethered means you have to be connected to a computer for the phone to boot.
Untethered jailbreaks are generally considered better because they let you use the device more normally (ie being able to reboot/shut down and turn on at any time) but tethered jailbreaks usually come out faster.
In search of the perfect remote access app: TeamViewer (TUAW.com)
Apr 3rd 2011 1:46AM Well, I'm sure as hell not a TeamViewer employee. I've just been using it a lot. It makes sense to me to use TeamViewer because that's what I set my family up with if they need help. They're not exactly technically literate and they recognize the icon so I don't get calls asking what this new icon is.
It's also one less process that gets loaded at startup; I don't leave TeamViewer running all the time on the computers I usually service, so I can just tell whoever calls me to start TeamViewer, they know what I mean, and then I log in. Easy.
I don't have an issue with SSH being blocked most of the time because I a) access my laptop on my phone through 3G and not the wifi, and b) I've changed the port my laptop accepts SSH connections on anyway.
I understand that Logmein works for you. Great. But just because I like a product doesn't mean I work for them. It just means I like a good product.

Apr 3rd 2011 12:33AM I've used TeamViewer for the past few years (at least 4). I use it for everything from remote tech support for the family (even at college I'm still their tech guy) to doing something on my laptop while I'm out and about (or in bed if I'm super lazy).
It's actually really convenient with the iPhone app and an SSH app; I SSH into my Mac, open TeamViewer, then open the TeamViewer client on my iPhone (all my TeamViewer clients log into the server with my username so the client numbers and passwords are stored) and I can just choose the machine to connect to. Then I can do pretty much anything with my computer if I'm not there!

Mar 27th 2011 3:46PM So, while I agree that keeping everything in the cloud would be a bad idea because of data plans, this is not my biggest gripe.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, let us add our own SMS tones without resorting to jailbreak! My Razr I had in high school could do it. EVERY OTHER PHONE I've seen can do it. Hell, the interface is mostly there with adding regular ringtones through iTunes. Just let us do it for SMS tones!
