School District Apologizes for MLK Lunch Menu (ParentDish)

Jan 14th 2010 12:25AM @Tara,
I live in Europe and we do care we just pick our battles for obvious reasons.
*****************************************************************************
I grew up in America when there were black and white faucets. America has come a long way but we need to quit pretending that behind closed doors there are still many that would drag us down. Us being Americans.

Racism does exist and reared it's ugly head during the elections and has continued. Racism is well placed propaganda that works. It's just that now instead of one or two groups, we are served the "flavor of the month".

Do I think the school menu would have offended me if my children brought it home? No...Do I understand why some would see it as bigotry and stereotypical?..Yes...Lets not pretend that there aren't those that make those "fried chicken" type comments to offend just like there are those that take the slightest things and try to turn them into racism.

It would seem that the state of the world being what it is we could and would concentrate more on healing ourselves as a people than thinking of even more reasons to divide.. In my humbly educated opinion.

Is Facebook's 'Bra Color' Craze the Next 25 Things? (Switched)

Jan 10th 2010 8:20AM Ethan,
The leverage is that some people will now become diligent with self checking and asking questions of their doctors....It's served it's purpose and I was appreciative of being able to in this small way participate in a campaign to bring awareness to a disease that unless it affects someone personally is basically overlooked...

Is Facebook's 'Bra Color' Craze the Next 25 Things? (Switched)

Jan 10th 2010 8:15AM Khurt,
Rest assured that people are talking and the subject is cancer. The bra post has people talking and it's up to us to carry it from there...No one said that it was the color of their bra that they were posting. Us women received that information in emails. It was very tasteful and awarness is the key. There have now been a few articles written about it and men like yourself are asking what about men? It's served it's purpose and I am grateful having lost 4 relatives in the last 3 years to cancer..All men by the way....

Facebook Backdoor Could Let Scammers and Marketers Access Your Info (Switched)

Jan 10th 2010 8:08AM There is a solution...We all know that Facebook and the like are public forums. Don't post anything you'd not want everyone to know...Privacy is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Technology has consequences as well as advantages...Welcome to the digital age!

Marian Wright Edelman on What's Missing From Health Care Reform (Politics Daily)

Dec 5th 2009 7:23AM If the government is taking money from Medicare now to pay for outside interest...What do people think will happen to any government run health care program in the future? Perhaps they are just creating another piggy bank for themselves because this plan isn't looking good for we the people.

The unstoppable Kevin Trudeau: Infamous infomercial king is at it again (WalletPop)

Dec 4th 2009 8:00AM I wonder if ..If we went into a store and were sold and purchased a gold necklace with diamonds and got home to find out it was gold plated and faux diamonds...Which of us would think...Hmm, well, it was half true and live with that purchase not feeling lied to and cheated!? As I stated before, the devil divines truth in his trickery also....It's those forked tongues we all must be aware of. We all are born with common sense, we should use it, it's free.

And Nan,
I agree that we all have sinned but most of us aren't bilking millions out of the naive while doing it...There are sins and there are crimes...Crimes are punishable now..Sins when you cross over...

Dec 4th 2009 7:16AM Ldriver,
There are no liberals or conservatives in Washington there are politicians and they have agendas. When you realize that I think you will awaken to the truth.

Dec 4th 2009 7:08AM Gabe,
When you are giving pseudo medical advice the answer is yes. One must be a realist. When people are in the throws of their own mortality it's very easy to take advantage of them with "I have a cure"... If anyone in your family has ever been unfortunate enough to have cancer then you know that there are many "cures" touted to no avail. Billions are spent every single year by people who are grasping at strings. I guess one could say they shouldn't grasp but I believe it's more sickening that there are those out there who would take advantage of people in this situation and I don't think "free speech" covers con artist.
