May 1st 2010 1:10PM The article doesn't say she was poor, only that she grew up under very modest circumstances. When I was young, we ate a lot of lentil meals. I didn't know at the time it was to stretch the grocery dollar. I do appreciate my parents teaching me the value of the dollar. And of the value of hard work. Because of lessons learned while young, I can afford much better now. As Mother's Day approaches, I, for one, say thank-you to all mothers who teach their children good, strong, values.
