It says in the article that SG had sent the message to two friends and that one of those people "leaked" it. Perhaps that friend wanted to teach SG a lesson, but that friend lost my vote. The friend could have reprimanded SG in private. Those who leak information to the press are cowards.

I haven't seen any recent photos of her and don't know how she looks now, but she's such a confident lady, going against the grains (read: long hair Hollywood-style). Short hair is just that: short hair. It doesn't destroy your femininity. Your own femininity is deeper than hair-length.
And Michelle (Sunday) you are so right! Good post! My grandma kept nagging me: cut your hair, you need to look modern not like my mother (she was talking about my great-grandma who wore big chignon). For us, modern women, always hurrying about, shorter hair is more appropriate and easier to maintain, with all the hair-products available now to ease up the styling. Shorter hair fits all age groups, from very young to very old ladies.

Mar 17th 2010 11:41AM So where are the other pictures? I thought the writer mentioned those actresses in their shorter hair version and when I clicked on their names, I've got older pics of them. I don't understand what the writer had in mind. Am I supposed to follow those celebrities hair style? I've got better things to do. But if you bother to write an article about hair-stye for women over 50, like me, then give me more examples than Ellen's style. It works for her, though I agree with other posters here that it looks kind of unkempt, and it's not going to work for me. I have thick and wavy hair. Show me something. Oh, don't bother.
