Jamie Oliver Calls Sarah Palin a "Froot Loop" (That's Fit)

Mar 5th 2011 8:37AM Most of these comments are from people who have no idea what Michelle Obama's program entails. At her speech kicking the program off, she stated that one of the reasons the Government has to step in is because 'we can't trust parents to make the right decisions for their children'. Is that what you want to hear your Government saying about your kids? Or how about this, you know all those school fundraisers? You know, the candy sales, pizza sales, bake sales and the like? Well they will be disallowed under Michelle's program. And no more pizza parties for achieving goals, no more school birthday parties for your youngster (at least not with cake or cupcakes), etc. I'm all for serving healthier food in the cafeteria, but at some point, we have to tell the Government they have no right to totally control what we eat and what we do with our lives.

Man Arrested for Poisoning Trees at Auburn's Toomer's Corner (Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog)

Feb 17th 2011 4:48PM You're an idiot. Roundup isn't used to keep bugs off - it's used to kill plants. There is a huge difference between herbicides and insecticides.

Feb 17th 2011 4:42PM Hitler and Stalin, ok - but Limbaugh and Beck? Why not throw in Soros and Moore too?

Scare Tactics (MyDaily)

Sep 19th 2010 9:12AM I would have done something similar, but certainly would have handled it differently. The father has every right to be outraged and also, in my view, has the right to board the bus and confront his daughter's bullies to strike fear in their hearts. However, the profanity-laced tirade was not needed, neither were the threats to the children or the bus driver. Unless you're threatening legal action, getting the police involved, etc. Threaten the bus driver with being an accessory to the problem, or neglect, etc, but not with actual physical harm.

Constance McMillen: Mississippi's Pro-Gay Prom Rebel is a Hero (Politics Daily)

Apr 18th 2010 9:13PM ummmm - that would be Noah...not Moses.

Constance McMillen: Mississippi's Pro-Gay Prom Rebel is a Hero (Politics Daily)

Apr 18th 2010 9:12PM Wow. Do some of you people hear yourselves? Everyone has the right to express themselves....unless, that expression has to do with saying that my pet issue is wrong. Whatever happened to the rights of people to say that homosexuality is wrong without being called homophobic? Do people who don't believe the same as the liberal mainstream media have fewer Constitutional rights than those who espouse everything liberals have to say? I'm not saying that the girl should not have been allowed to attend prom, all I'm saying is that those of you who seem to defend liberty, are actually denying others' liberty by not allowing them to voice their opinion without calling them disparaging names.

Apple Tablet Rumors Point to Mysterious 'iSlate' (Switched)

Jan 6th 2010 5:37PM Just for one possible application, I'm a high school algebra teacher. I can see myself using this peripheral to walk around the room and help my students, while still being able to show "my work" on a screen by hooking my iMac up to a projector and having my iSlate connected to it via bluetooth. This would be a VERY useful tool for my classroom. There are currently wireless tablets, but none of them allow you to see what you're doing on the tablet the way this would, so you're constantly having to guess at your stylus' location.

Thomas Jefferson Did Not Father Sally Hemings' Children, Author Claims in New Book (BV on Books)

Jun 22nd 2009 4:18PM Wow! There's a lot of racism in this thread! (On both sides, by the way.) First, some accuracy. Yes, "white men" did found this country, however, they did not discover this land. There is a difference. Obviously the Native Americans were here first, but even they came here from other areas. They did not come up with the concept of the United States, that was done by the "white men". Also, they did not even have a concept of land ownership. That was also introduced by the "white men". Therefore, their land could not have been taken from them if they didn't even believe they owned it. Their belief was that they used the land and coexisted with the land - a totally different concept from ownership. And all cultures practiced slavery at one time or another. Native Americans certainly did, Africans practiced it against other Africans (where do you think the Europeans got all the people they brought to this hemisphere? - from other Africans), even Europeans practiced slavery prior to the 1600s (look at ancient Greece and Rome). So there's no reason to turn everything into a reason to look down on others. All people groups have done wrong in the past and all people groups have been wronged in the past. It's what we're doing now that matters.

President Obama Attacks FOX News (Politics Daily)

Jun 19th 2009 1:37PM Just because FOX is the only news outlet which actually questions what Obama's doing, doesn't mean it's attacking him. I understand that FOX doesn't act as his own personal cheerleader, as do the other networks, but that's not the role of the press. The press is there to question, not be a mouthpiece. When did you hear Bush complain that all the networks were against him? You didn't. He did his job as President and allowed them to do their job as the press. But all of a sudden, The Chosen One doesn't seem to like anybody not letting him do whatever he wants without questioning it.

'Sexting' Teenagers Charged With Child Pornography (Switched)

Jan 15th 2009 12:12AM I appreciate your honest reply. Yes, it is both common AND wrong. Teachers are there to try to point you in the right direction. Porn is not the right direction. And child porn is illegal. And while I, as a teacher, may need "cause" to go through your purse, I already have "cause" to check your cell phone by confiscating it. If you don't want your phone gone through, or your bookbag checked, or your car searched, - don't bring them to school. It is no different than a teacher confiscating a note, and reading it - you know that happens all the time. The major point here is, if you know it's wrong, than that proves that child porn is taking place, because a person is aware that it is wrong and engages in the practice anyway. If it wasn't for first responders, such as teachers, taking action, things would escalate and become much worse. Bottom line here is that kids need to learn a whole lot of self-respect and a little more about the law before trying to get away with stuff.
