Time to Turn Off National Anthem Before Sports Events (Fanhouse - Kevin Blackistone)
Feb 9th 2011 7:15AM How did this mess go from a singer who messed up to the song should not be sung. Let me tell you something--these military men and women fought and still fight everyday for the freedoms we have. We would not have sports or even the freedom to write such idiotic articles if it was not for them. This song reminds us as a nation what these braves soldiers went through and are proud of when they see our American Flag. I have family right now in Iraq and I pray for them everyday. I also pray that all servicemen and servicewomen come home safely to their families. I cry everytime I hear our National Anthem. Just b/c this article tries to rip us apart as a country doesn't mean we have to follow along. This change we can believe in has turned into a point of making a mochary of what this country was founded on and I think it needs to go back and respect us as a people and also s how respect for our military.
'Dancing With the Stars' Results: Who Got Voted Off in Week 3? (VIDEO) (AOL TV)
Oct 6th 2010 6:57AM I think Margaret Cho shoul dhave stayed. I don't think mike "the situation" did good at all. He kept watching his partner and was always a half step behind. He was also don't really dancing , he was just sliding across the floor. At least Margaret danced and yes her rythem was off but she kept going and did more movement then he did the entire 3 weeks.
Iron Chefs Battle in Kitchen (AOL Hot Searches)
Sep 13th 2010 7:32AM My favorite Iron Chef is Morimoto. I have watched him ever since he was on the Original Iron Chef. They have always received the main ingredient I think the night before so that they can plan a menu. I remember watching an episode where Sakai and Chen mentioned speaking to each other the night before about the menu and wishing each other luck. I still think it is a challenge to come up with 4 to 5 dishes in an hour that has to have origionality, taste good, use the special ingredient, and look good. I would not undermine their skills. If I could cook half as well as they can I would be happy.
Opinion: There Is No Such Thing As Birth Rape (ParentDish)
Sep 13th 2010 7:14AM I can understand that there are a few perverse doctors out there and even insensitive ones. But I can't see how the term "rape" can be identified with childbirth. I am one who had a birth plan for both of my children. My first born was a premie b/c of a hurricane and he survivied after spending several days in NICU. My second born I had several problems. I was hospitalized and we tried enducing birth first. Yes the nurse and doctor had to check me several times but in no way did I ever feel that I was being assaulted. I knew that I was having problems and that I needed to be monitored as well as my baby. When I started having problems with my organs they said that I needed to have a C-section. They did not want to lose me or the baby. So not all births are perfect and not all planning will go the way you want. You do have choices but for me anyway, I wanted what was best for myself and my children. If that means I had to have a c-section and have them constantly checking me well then that is part of becoming a mother to a living, breathing, healthy baby.
Is 'The Last Airbender' Racist ... or Just Drawn That Way? (Moviefone Blog)
Jul 1st 2010 9:21PM I would like to know out of all of you who are bashing and screaming racism--did you even watch the entire three books of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Did you really look at the characters in the anime and compare them with the actors in the movie. I can see where Shyamalan chose his actors to look as closely as they can to the anime version. So with that being said, people have too much time on their hands to go around bashing other people for racist views. What do you think you are doing by bashing someone else? I am not going to boycott a movie just b/c someone gets a hair up their butt and decides it is racist. That is my own judgement to make. Even then it is a work of fiction. Bringing an anime to the movie screen, which is more then I can say for every other director in the world remaking movies over and over again. So get off your high horses and just be relieved at the fact that there is actually something different on the big screen to watch instead of watching a remake of a movie that you saw as a child. Oh and by the way, no one is forcing you to watch the movie-- it is your freedom as a person to choose and we would not even have that without the military men and women fighting for that right for us.
Miss USA Contestants Wear Ultra Sexy Lingerie for Official Promo Photos (Stylelist)
May 11th 2010 11:13AM OK so the last couple of girls that won Miss USA had their crowns taken away or almost taken away for scandalous behavior. So it is ok then to dress in barely their clothing and look like you are posing for playboy? Hmmm....didn't anyone stop to think that hey I am a person not a piece of meat? I guess this is what we will get to look forward to for our daughters. Not only to keep them from killing themselves to be thin but also that they are more then half naked women for others to drool over. What ever happened to respect and showing people it is ok to be smart and beautiful without the requirement of looking like you could work on a corner.
Chely Wright Reveals She Is Gay (The Boot)
May 3rd 2010 2:58PM Ummm....Kd Lang came out several years ago and she was actually kicked out of the country scene b/c of it. She also has come a long way since that time. It's good that this singer has decided to come out but she was not the first one to do so.
Freddy Krueger: Which Face Do You Prefer? (Cinematical)
Apr 16th 2010 8:06AM Not really impressed which the pic or the preview. I think it is sad that all these movie people can think of is remake something that is not even that old. I remember as a kid being scared of the Freddy movies and loving it. Sleeping with the light on and hoping nothing comes crawling from under my bed. That was greasat, they were originals and the Freddy character did have the dark humor and scariness to boot. But now all these movies are just kill them without any real plot or meat to the characters. Just leave these classics, as they are now called, alone and come up with something original. And actually put effort into the plot and characters and make movies, especially scary ones, fun to watch again! I am tired of all the hype and then walking away from a movie thinking I just wasted my time and money.
Facebook Won't Install 'Panic Button' to Report Child Predators (Switched)
Mar 22nd 2010 7:43AM The panic button is a weird issue. I don't think a tween/teen child would even stop and say hey this person I am talking to is a predator. Half of the time they think they are talking to someone else their age. I don't like the fact that younger teens have a page. I don't think they need one and my teen does not have one. She knows that she has time on the computer in the family room. We check the history when she is done and her e-mail. Also the unfortunate death the of the young girl mentioned, you have to remember she was 17 years old. Pretty much one year from being "legally" an adult. A panic button would be good but realistically the idea that children would actually use it would be low for serious cases and high for "lets see what happens."
Moms Have More Leisure Time Than They Think, Researcher Says (ParentDish)
Feb 2nd 2010 8:08AM What gets me is that this "man" calls doing unpaid work aka laundry, dishes, cleaning, as leisure time. Now I do not consider scrubbing a toilet and folding laundry as leisure. I am a stay at home mom, and I have three kids. Two of them are in school and my youngest, 2, is home schooled to get her ready for school. So if this guy wants to consider "chores" as leisure then he should have no problems doing it himself. Moist men decide that sonce they work, and I mean no disrespect b/c I am very lucky right now to stay home, and I realize how hard my husband's job is. But there are times where we do need help. I am the mom who not only does the mom stuff, but I am the one fixing broken toilets, fixing broken sinks, taking the trash out, making sure that shelves or cabinets are fixed. Now if that constitues leisure time, this man has another thing coming. It sounds to me that this man thinks that he is better then women who not only work but also stay at home.
