who decided people were better off on the streets than in facilities..and that treatment was permissible only when the perosn was in acute crisis..."an immediate/imminent threat to self or others or incapable of meeting their basic needs" is the usual legal language and means what is says...critcally acute right now....otherwise, back on the street. we need to re-think these policies in a humane way and not from the perspective of goofball politics.

are half-baked at best. if this woman is not able to parent the children and care of them at some reasonable level placing primary custody with the father makes perfect sense; the mother has not been deprived of her children by any stretch...it is just that the other parent is the primary responsible parent...mother's visitation, etc may be quite liberal. the court is not punishing mom for being sick; it is providing care and supervision for kids with a disabled mother.
