Social Networking on the Rise as Bell Tolls for E-Mail (Switched)

Oct 14th 2009 11:29AM I completely agree with this tim. Stating that the "death-knell of e-mail begins to toll" seems to have been written only to attract readers.

Email is an absolute necessity these days: postage/payment confirmations, website sign-up details, banking, CV requests. I'd rather keep things private than posted to my now long-deactivated Facebook profile.

Ninja Gaiden 2 gets patched, sorta (Joystiq Xbox)

Jul 4th 2008 6:51PM Yeah, but chapter 10 stairs... You end that fight feeling like a god, especially using fully upgraded claws.

4 frames per second just means you can see more of the actions!

Too expensive Ninja Gaiden II costume DLC now available (Joystiq Xbox)

Jul 2nd 2008 5:25PM Hmm, to be honest, the only skin pack that looks any good is the Fiend pack, which I received free with my Pre-order from GAME.

Not that I can be bothered playing, now that my final save-game before the final bosses has no health items, and a 1/3 bar of health. No chance.

Kill dinos in Turok with rock band Distrubed (Joystiq Xbox)

Jun 30th 2008 1:42PM £15 minutes, hahaha... I wish i'd paid £15 for it.

Jun 30th 2008 1:41PM Turok??? lol

...

Seriously, what an awful game. Played co-op for £15 minutes, and took it straight back and traded it for Stranglehold.

It's historic! GTAIV receives its first patch (Joystiq Xbox)

Jun 23rd 2008 5:57PM Haha, I love the way the comments are marked down as soon at it insults the game in any way. Kinda like the fanboys putting their fingers in their ears, closing their eyes and yelling "La La La I can't hear or see you, you don't exist anymore, La La La..."

A bit of criticism never hurt anyone.

Jun 22nd 2008 6:21AM They removed Quicktime Alternative from the Mega Codec Pack a few few months ago, and halted further development of it. You can still find the last version that was released, but after some legal bother they can no longer include it with k-lite or continue development.

As far as I'm aware, Real Alternative is still on-going and included with each codec pack release.

Jun 21st 2008 8:35PM If you really want to avoid installing codec packs, and don't like the look of VLC, you've always got GOM Player and SM Player which are pretty much all-in-one media player and codec packs (and look a lot prettier too).

Make sure you search for GOM rather than DOM player, which is generally pretty nasty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domplayer#DomPlayer)

Jun 20th 2008 8:01PM Erm, instead of WinRAR, you're probably better with something like 7-zip or IZArc, both freeware.

VolumeTouch: Adjust your PC volume with your mouse (Download Squad)

Jun 7th 2008 8:29PM I installed this, and thought to myself, "Why doesn't my laptop have hotkeys for doing this very thing?"

Then I realised it did, and I hadn't been looking hard enough. I uninstalled it about 45 seconds later.

Seemed erm, decent enough.
