Dec 12th 2008 7:42PM I am compelled to reply this because of the attack on marriage today. Marriage is an institution that has been around for thousands of years. Marriage was used in political alliances, and doweries were given. Marriage is what broke up the Catholic church when Henry VIII divorced his first wife Katherine of Aragon and married Ann Boleyn (and later beheaded her). In modern times, the US decided in the late 1960's early 70's that divorce should be "no fault". From that time, divorces skyrocketed. Now, marriage is entered into without much thought because people realize they can simply end it. Gays want to "married". Marriage is a religious institution and the gov't got its mitts on it so they could license it and collect "fees". (aka taxes).
I believe it would be in everyone's best interest to do away with marriage in the gov't sector and everyone can have civil unions. Those who want to be "married" can do so in their church.
Another thing people don't seem to know or remember is that a couple had to take a blood test before getting a marriage license because of the RH factor. That was done away with I blelieve (I am not sure exactly when) in the late 1960's and early 70's.

Aug 16th 2008 3:28PM I get similar emails all the time from a source claiming to be Bank of America and I don't bank with them. I hope the manager does something. Also, I place them in my spam so when I get another, I know it is not from the same email address. A good rule of thumb is to never answer ANY personal questions via the internet, or the telephone for that matter.

The Congress controls the purse strings. Why would we want to change the country that people are risking their lives to get into? Change? Change what? Oh, more taxes (for everyone, don't be fooled) foreign policy? As layman we know nothing about what is really going on. We need to loisten to our generals, not politicians in Washington.

I am a white woman so what the hell does that mean? I am not a fan of McCain but God help us, he is better than what the Dems are offering. So, I repeat!! Skin color is not the issue. I am all for a black prez. Just NOT this one. And think about this. The Europeans say its time for a black American Prez. When was there EVER a black European Prez or monarch? WE gained our independence in 1776 from them. Wake up!!

If your guy wins, let us all know two years from now, just how happy you are-I remember the 70's and the Jimmy Carter days. If he wins we will have gas lines, lose ALL credibility with our allies(we might be heralded in the communist countries), suffer from food shortages (it is starting now thanks to the Dem controlled congress. I am not saying the Republicans are perfect, they blew it, but they are definitely better than Socialists you call Democrats.
