Jun 20th 2009 5:22PM if you use your sound often on your computer (music, movies, games, etc), you should definitely invest in a sound card.

here's my personal experience:
- i went from onboard realtek ac97 to a creative audigy 2 value ($50 when i bought 2 years ago?) and there was definitely a difference
- after reading some posts, i decided to output audio to my Logitech Z5550 control console via optical cable instead of analog stereo wire. there is definitely a difference. it's subtle if you're not trying to spot differences.

what does this mean? my logitech Z5500 control console has a better DAC than my Audigy 2 Value sound card.

i think all the posts suggesting optical to an external DAC is a good idea :)
