Paper Company Tells Kids to Use More Paper, Ignore the Whole Deforestation Thing (Switched)

'Batman: Arkham Asylum' Game Scores Guinness Record (Switched)
Sep 7th 2009 9:43AM Is it just me or is this, in general, just a really stupid record?
Lost Planet movie will cost up to $200 million to make (Joystiq)
Feb 15th 2009 2:00AM Hmmm - did anyone actually read the entire interview? First, it's a good insight in how movies get made. Also, as he states early on - if a movie were to cost $400 million, in reality it costs closer to $600 million. Thus Dark Knight probably cost close to $250 million - if not more.
So $200 million is high, but it's not as high as anyone here is making it out to be.
New Xbox 360 Experience hands-on and impressions (Engadget)
Nov 12th 2008 4:45AM Any word on whether the DivX support won't require you to be on Live to work? That is really annoying if you don't have a permanent broadband connection. Also, did they overhaul the music player? Can I save playlists from media not on the hard drive (ie, from a portable device) and have they added support for continuous play (looping)? Volume control in the video player for anything other than DVDs would be nice as well.
Finally, how does this look on SD displays, which still make up the bulk of the gaming market out there?
The Political Game: Doug Lowenstein shoots the messenger (Joystiq)
Feb 25th 2007 8:59AM I think Jack Thompson is an American problem and the debate should be between the American gaming press. His rants and reactions hardly make any impact in the other gaming markets. His role, though, seems very overblow. I don;t think Lowenstein was saying "Pretend Jack doesn't exist"; I think he meant that there was too much coverage for the guy. Because of all the attention he's been getting, he's even appeared in Time. Game journalists have to acknowledge their role in that.
E3 cancelled for next year and beyond [update 4] (Joystiq)
Jul 31st 2006 4:51AM Finally! E3 is a trade show, but it has become impossible to do any kind of real coverage because of the huge consumer presence. There are plenty of oppertunities during the year for companies to get the consumer side of things involved. But as an industry event, it just diluted E3 and made it pointless to attend, especially from the pov of specialist press. Sure, gamers should also see the goods, but the press shave a job to do. Streamlining E3 into a more serious press event would make a big difference. No more fanboys to elbow through (theoretically).
