Kids Spend Too Much Time Online, Say Parents (Switched)
Jun 11th 2009 6:32AM
Thank you for the hint, Linda. Ez Internet Timer is exactly what I was looking for a long time. I've tried many tools including Net Nanny, but my smart son broke them within 5 minutes. This one protects not only protects from changing PC system time, but also it protects pc in Windows Safe Mode. My oldest son is still trying to break Ez Internet Timer, but happily for me without any success. Once again thanks for the comment!
Teens Spend 31 Hours Online Per Week (Switched)
Mar 17th 2009 4:20PM Too much of anything is not good. We use video and online games as a reward (AFTER the chores are done). He would spend every breathing second online gaming World of Warcraft and watching YouTube video, if we would not limit his time spent online. Hopefuly, we built a simple Internet Timer http://www.internettimer.net With the help of this tool I can restrict and set times when the computer can be accessed and my son has no choice than to accept the rules. And parents should not forget that children who spent more time on the Internet, playing games spent less time socializing, communicated less within the family and felt more lonely and depressed.
What Parents should know about Twittering? (SafetyClicks)
Feb 25th 2009 8:00AM OMG! MySpace, Facebook and now Twitter… I'm honestly so sick of that. Of cause, as a parent, I have the right, and responsibility, to tell my kids NO when I feel it is in their best interests. In a perfect world, telling your kids NO works. Unfortunately, our world is not quite so perfect. Kids go to friends houses and even to the public library, coffee shops, and so many other places - and can use those computers to sign up on MYSPACE and others. That's why I don't restrict MySpace and Facebook accounts (thank God they don’t know about Twitter yet), but I have only one rule to follow. My children can use Internet only when I or my husband at home. Additionally, I built a simple parental control Ez Internet Timer http://www.internettimer.net. It allows me to schedule all children’s on-line activity and disable the internet connection after a specified amount of time.
Teaching Your Parents How to Behave on Social Networks (SafetyClicks)
Feb 15th 2009 5:26PM Being a parent is so much harder than it used to be. We're encouraged to hand our kids over to strangers, sex offenders, paedophiles for the majority of the day from the earliest ages. As for me, I don't allow my children to have My Space or any other social networking accounts at all. I constantly struggle with the balance of watching out for my kids when they go online. I even istalled internet filter Ez Internet Timer http://www.internettimer.net. It helps me control Internet usage for my kids.
Video Games Don't Make Kids Anti-Social (Switched)
Jan 26th 2009 8:19AM My 12-years old daughter was on the game 7 days a week. She called it a hobby but it was certainly more than that. Under my friend's recommendation I tried parental control software Ez Internet Timer http://www.internettimer.net to take control over Internet activity of my child. It does the trick perfectly. Of cause, she is playing games now, but only 1 hour a day. And from that moment my daughter began to spend more time outdoors and play with her friends.
Parenting Online (SafetyClicks)
Jan 25th 2009 5:33PM Thank you for the hint, Julia. The Ez Internet Timer is perfect and very user friendly… i must admit tha it has really good security and my child can’t uninstall it or log on and change the settings. Once again thanks!
When should you start the online safety conversation? (SafetyClicks)
Jan 25th 2009 5:23PM I share your point of you ShannonGB that it is always better to develop good habits as early as possible. I use a simple internet filter called Ez Internet Timer http://www.internettimer.net, but it’s important that parents understand that filters should be part of a broader protection strategy like described in this article.
