Merrill Lynch spent $1.22 million redecorating for John Thain (BloggingStocks)
Jan 24th 2009 9:33AM We desperately need someone to take control of the remuneration (pay) to CEO's AND celebrities in the sports arena and movie stars. Their salaries and bonuses are obscene.
Also we know now that the SEC was hopelessly negligent in checking into Wall Street moguls like David Danoff. When a red flag was raised about Danoff's transactions, the SEC did NOTHING. So the people running the SEC were being paid to do NOTHING also. Perhaps they were PAID to ignore any warning signs, which means that they should be prosecuted also.
I hope that President Obama can straighten out all these crooked organizations, but he has a monumental job on his hands.
Incidentally, just try and get an answer to a letter about a personal problem from your senator, congressman, state governor or any government official. They are supposed to be the servants of the people, but apparently they do not think so!
Where Spitzer should have spent his 80 grand (WalletPop)
Mar 12th 2008 2:24PM Why are people such hypocrites! Men have been doing this since time immemorial. A wife is usually not enough to satisfy their sexual urges. Also, the people who 'doth protest too much' are usually the most sexually active 'outside marriage.' Not to mention the celibate religions! We won't go there.
Why don't we accept the inevitable and make prostitution legal and 'clean.' This would be a 'giant step forward.'
I do not plan to practise prostitution. It is not my preference, but I think it's acceptable under the right circumstances.
Why are Finnish kids so smart? (ParentDish)
Mar 5th 2008 10:07AM Hear, hear for Jaime and Tammy. They have somehow developed the right attitude and thank heaven they can 'spell.'
Finland has the right idea, and so, incidentally, has Japan and other Asian countries. When their children enter our educational system, they usually outdistance our children by miles! It is usually because of greater expectations and discipline from parents and (competent) teachers! And I'm not talking about child abuse either.
Smuggle poppy seeds, face jail (Gadling)
Feb 23rd 2008 9:48AM As for Dubai, UAE and Abu Dhabi, DON'T GO THERE. We don't need to add any more of our money to the BILLIONS of dollars we are sending them to buy their OIL!!!
OR, give them the opportunity to enforce their fanatical 'laws.'
Kitty Bum Pencil Sharpener (Switched)
Jun 17th 2007 8:23AM Unfortunately something like this encourages people who are cruel to cats. They are beautiful creatures and very affectionate. I do not dislike dogs, but if you haven't accidentally stepped in a dog's 'excrement,' you haven't lived!!!!! This can be found all over the streets in London!! Also in parks where dogs are taken to 'run,' where, if you are very lucky, you may sit in some!
However, if a 'dog' pencil sharpener is given equal time, I may forgive the perpetrator of the 'cat' pencil sharpener. No doubt there will be one. In any case, they are both God's creatures, as are we, and should be treated well.
Nasty Hotel Germs (Gadling)
Oct 4th 2006 9:47AM Having read all the aforementioned comments, I am now sufficiently terrified to stay again in any hotels - anywhere!!!!!!!
Julia Roberts promotes biofuels (Autoblog Green)
Jul 27th 2006 11:06AM Sorry, I hit the wrong key and my message was cut off!!
As I was saying, Julia Roberts may help to persuade people and that would be a good thing.
However, I was listening fairly recently to a radio program by George Noory on Coast to Coast (AM 1450) when he was interviewing an expert whose name I cannot remember, as it was in the middle of the night! This man said that ethanol was being used widely in Brazil. Plus that of course it can be produced HERE from corn and a variety of other plants. It would benefit our farmers and create a whole new industry here, creating jobs for many people HERE. Personally, I don't mind paying more for ethanol/methanol produced HERE, instead of sending OUR money to the Middle East to fund
TERRORISM. He also said that it would only cost $100.00 to convert new cars to ethanol/methanol and a similar amount for older cars.
Please, please give it your support. It's for OUR COUNTRY. Susan
