Best Celebrity Interviews Gone Bad & Caught On Tape (PopEater)

Feb 8th 2010 8:31AM Nothing so easy as being the gateway for a medium as an interviewer and taking a pot shot at an actor to try and make them look stupid. In some cases the actors don't need any help (if only Tom Cruise knew which points he was trying to make actually made sense and then shut up the rest of the time...i.e., drugs are administered without measurement of what they are trying to correct -- it is an interesting point. However, nothing else he said was and he said a lot more of nothing else). Matching Cruise and Lauer is like playing 'are you smarter than a fifth grader' using special needs children. Gibson...the only thing he did wrong there was mutter under his breath rather than say what he should have during the interview. Tyson...his stupid rage was interesting -- too bad it was cut off. My wonder is why so many people are so sensitive to other people's opinions. Get over it and stop being the walking crippled.

10 Dirty Little Restaurant Secrets (Slashfood)

Sep 22nd 2009 7:50AM I worked in restaurants -- mostly 'fine dining' -- and had an interesting range of experiences, mostly depending on the chef. If a kitchen was run by an upstanding, demanding and interested chef, fewer oddities happened to get served. In one instance, I remember doing a $1000/plate fundraiser where we were supposed to be serving pheasant. When the chef presented me with the meat to trim down, I said: "Looks like chicken to me..." Granted they were very nice capons...

Food cost drives some potentially fatal errors in food prep. If you have allergies...watchout. A regular practice in several of the restaurants I worked in was to feed cocktail shrimp trimmings into the lobster salad. If you happen to be someone with a shrimp allergy you may end up with a bit of a surprise.

That is the tip of the iceberg. More unusual errors can slip by when inexperienced personnel are part of the action.

Knowing what I know never deters me from eating out, but I am careful about what I choose. And while I rarely send something back (once in my life) I can clearly define the issues.

The 20 Worst Lyrics Ever: Your Turn (Spinner)

Apr 1st 2007 11:21AM I like Jethro Tull, usually a lyrically talented lot. But what were they thinking lyrically with:

"Of a sudden, seems I can barely
face my self... no face to lose.
Call the bosses. Call supervisors.
Won't be in today to work for you."

In the song, "AWOL", the word 'supervisors' lands like a onelegged penguin trying to take flight from the roof of a 15 story building. It is the most jarring, notably awkward set of lyrics I've ever heard in a song that someone was serious about.
