Students Create $20 Prosthetic Leg -- and It Works! (Switched)

Apr 20th 2009 11:26AM I am glad it is being publicized. Congratulations to the students who worked on such a worthwhile project. This could mean so much to so many. I hope it is picked up by someone who can see it manufactured at a low price in quantity. The companies who rip everyone off with the unbelievable amounts they charge for such a necessary piece of equipment should be ashamed of themselves. Wheelchairs and braces are the same way.Go Stanford!

'Slumdog Millionaire' Takes Home Best Song at the Oscars (Spinner)

Apr 19th 2009 11:08PM We loved this movie. It is so very different from all the rest. It just touches you to watch. It is very sad that there is such a poor place and somehow children survive to grow up from there. It's hard to know that, but it is something we need to be aware of, and hopefully we can help change. I recommend this movie!

Michelle Obama's Turquoise Suede Boots - Stylefoul? (Stylelist)

Mar 19th 2009 10:55AM I would have been glad to read more about her talk about Community Service with Youth Build. She is out doing really good stuff. I was very impressed with her talk to the Women soldiers last week. How about reporting on something RELEVANT? We need so badly to build up our communities! Go Michelle!

Make Detroit the next retirement community (WalletPop)

Mar 10th 2009 8:00PM Hi Zac- It's an interesting idea, but wow, kinda like sticking them in siberia! I grew up there, and the crummy management these days doesn't even see to it that the streets get plowed in winter. It could work if you could build them a little city within the city that they could care for themselves. That had like a grocery store and stuff right there. In summer they could make a garden. I guess it would beat not having anything.

The Barack Obama License Plate (Blackvoices Main)

Feb 24th 2009 7:35AM We can add to your totally right-on comment that there's a FLEET of White House helicopters now in the works for 400 million each.

Old Books - A New Source of Lead Poisoning? (ParentDish)

Feb 22nd 2009 11:18AM I so agree, Diane! I can't imagine these people choosing to single out American companies, when the chinese products are downright immoral they are so poison. It is amazing! Why is this happening? It's also a good idea to write our representatives, although I wonder if they will bother to care. What a shame. If parents are sitting and reading these "banned" books to their children, and everyone washes their hands afterwards, I see no harm in them being enjoyed for another generation.

HGTV's 'The Property Shop' does Realtors no favors (WalletPop)

Jan 4th 2009 10:22PM I must agree with Zac also. I imagine the "real" real estate agents are bummed that this person is such a selfish snot, and it is not a typical HGTV type show. Usually the characters are pleasant. I will find something else on the tv until this one burns out. I doubt it will take long, who would actually WANT to invite that into their living room?
