Sarah Silverman: Crude Comedian With a Certain Feminist Flair (Politics Daily)
Apr 27th 2010 4:20PM Some people are way too uptight. If we were talking about Robin Williams (whose every bit as crude) no one would bat an eyelash. The fact that shes a woman is what freaks people out. Surely girls don't think these things! Um, sure we do. And sometimes provocative and offensive ARE funny. Lighten up world!

Feb 15th 2010 9:04AM That would be well and fine if it were still 1950. However in todays economy most families require dual incomes just to make ends meet. Not for extra luxuries, bigger paychecks, or fancy homes but for survival. Most parents would love the opportunity to stay home with their child, but that really is a luxury that most people cannot afford. Your comment was ignorant, and frankly insulting. You should feel priveledged to have been able to stay at home with your child. The majority of us are not so lucky. And just so you know, I feel extremely fortunate to have stayed home with my daughter for the first six years and started working at the school she goes to just to stay close to her. But I know that it isn't a possibility for everyone. It's nasty of you to tell people that they should stay home with their kids, when thats really what they would love to do but are unable.
My Mother Hates My Baby Name (ParentDish)
Jan 18th 2010 9:49PM Agnes is a dreadful name.... I have a sister in law who named her baby Betty. She's three now and people still look at us a bit funny when we address her in public. My own daughter is named Skylar but her middle name is Deborah. Not such a great middle name however my husband's mother and my mother both share that name. We were able to honor them both. Since it wasn't that pretty, I elected to put it in the middle lol. Please rethink Agnes, or at least make it your childs middle name.

School fundraisers: The time has come for unfundraiser (WalletPop)
Mar 21st 2009 12:52PM I'm sending this article to my childs PTA. It's sick the way the school parades all the kids into the gym (during instructional time no less) and pumps them up with all those crappy prizes. The grand prize offered is always simply unattainable. Frankly it's a lot of crap. So when my daughter brings that stuff home, I feel forced to participate. We've sold everything from $15 buckets of cookie dough to expensive magazine subscriptions. We do discuss how the prizes she has received in the past were dollar store quality items. I offer her this now... if we choose not to participate I will take you to the store and let you pick out a prize. On a more supportive note, her school does one fundraiser that I do like. Each grade raffles off theme baskets. The themes include family fun (where the parents donate games, movie/skating tickets, etc.), Pet baskets, and spa baskets among other ideas. A parent might spend $10 for something to add to the basket then they are raffled off for a dollar a ticket. The school keeps 100% of the money! This is a real cost effective way for the school to earn money without cheapening themselves. Whatever happened to bake sales?

Woman finds black widow spider in the grapes she bought at Costco (WalletPop)
Nov 21st 2008 11:10AM I work in child nutrition at one of our public schools. Just two days ago I was washing grapes and also found a black widow spider. What I'm wondering is, has this always been the case or is this some kind of epidemic we need to watch out for? I can tell you that washing grapes is now going to take me much longer and I hope they can't penetrate latex gloves ;)
