6 Good Reasons to Buy a Home Now (AOL Real Estate)
Sep 9th 2011 8:14PM 6 good reasons to buy a home. Yes, very true.
1 good reason not to...you don't have the money! Don't get yourself in debt over your head just to have a nice house that you can't afford...you'll lose more than you had to begin with!
Pregnant Man Sheds Baby Weight, Shows Off New Bod (ParentDish)
Jul 28th 2011 10:40PM I cannot believe the sickening state of our world today. Transgender does not make a woman a man! This is blasphemy...and in the end this WOMAN is going to answer to her creator!
'Jackass' Star Ryan Dunn Driving 'About 130 MPH' When He Crashed (PopEater)
Jun 22nd 2011 2:20PM This guy had to have family, and I feel bad for their loss. However, he was an idiot! I'm surprised that natural selection wasn't a bit faster. Driving 130 mph in a 55 mph zone under the influence of alcohol...I'd say he had a death wish. Too bad he took his friend with him.
Judge to Mom: 'You Don't Spank Children' (ParentDish)
Jun 21st 2011 1:51PM I have 5 children and another on the way. They are all well-adjusted and respectful kids who know that there are consequences and rewards for their actions. They know that nothing in life is free except unconditional love! What a bunch of HOOEY! This judge must not have kids...or she does and they are the ones who have such a sense of entitlement that they too will not be able to function without someone holding their hand. I think dougalcandy said it best! Here's to all the parents who believe in raising their children and not being regulated by a system that does nothing but set those children up for failure!!!
TV Not to Blame for Teens' Sleepless Nights (ParentDish)
May 17th 2011 2:42PM "The Internet and video games were the real time bandits." These AND cellphones....really, how many teens have their hands almost literally growing to their phones (texting)?!!! I would have my kids put their phones up before going to bed...takes care of internet and video games too as they have no TV in their rooms!
Teenage Girls Continue to 'Fake 'n' Bake' Despite Health Warnings (ParentDish)
May 7th 2011 6:10PM was just informed this week that a lady I work with lost a close friend (only in his early 50's) too melanoma. Another young man (34) just diagnosed with stage IV melanoma...he and his wife have a baby on the way in the next couple of weeks. We had a patient as young as 19 diagnosed! Tanning is not worth the risks involved when there are safe alternatives!!!
Gisele Bündchen Brews Controversy by Calling Sunscreen 'Poison' (Stylelist)
Feb 5th 2011 7:45PM Gisele is partially right...60% of sunscreens on the market contain Oxybenzone, a toxic material that blocks radiation, but penetrates in skin to fairly large amounts, and is a potential hormone disruptor.
Retinyl palmitate, or Vitamin A - New data from the FDA suggests this ingredient, when you put it on the skin, accelerates the growth of skin tumors and lesions.
For more information, or to find a more appropriate sunscreen, visit: www.http://ewg.org/
I think she should be applauded for her breastfeeding comment too...takes guts, and she's obviously not ashamed to say exactly what she thinks! Formula, although I know is necessary for some mothers to use due to the inability to breastfeed, is being found to have more and more adverse effects on the health of infants also. Breast is BEST, and formula should be used as a last resort - WAY TO GO Gisele!!!
Obama Shocked, Saddened by Youth Suicides (ParentDish)
Oct 23rd 2010 1:47PM As someone astutely pointed out earlier, the focus should not be on homosexuality here, but on the real problem, bullying. Parents these days are raising little monsters, and why not? Most parents today aren't really interested in the actual job of parenting...but they liked the idea of having a "accessory" to complete the family-like vision. They have to keep up with the Joneses, so Jr will get whatever he wants lest they damage his fragile sensibilities. And when my child does wrong (as I became a parent because I actually wanted to be...I have 5), I cannot raise my voice or my hand, but put him in a "time out" lest CPS be called by my own Jr, a nosy neighbor or passerby, and I have charges brought against me or worse yet, land in jail. It's not easy, but most parents today want it to be...and when the parents "dislike" something and are hatefully vocal about it, the children learn. They try it out on classmates, and of course the teachers know about it, but are not allowed to appropriately punish this child either. Someone might get mad and press charges, someone might be offended. WHAT A CROCK!
Get back to the Bible basics folks. People preach tolerance, but know not what it means. Not one of us is without faults - accept it. God never did, and never will approve of homosexuality (and other immoralities of which we are ALL guilty of) - accept it. We can all be tolerant of each other without judging. We do NOT have to accept each others lifestyles. I do NOT want to be a surgeon, but that does not mean all surgeons should fry because they chose to have a lifestyle that demands high stress, long hours, and God complexes! Homosexuality is WRONG, but so is premarital sex, and adultery!!! I do not have to accept one's lifestyle to be tolerant of them and respect them as a human being! The sooner people figure this out, the sooner the children will too...I still love and pray for my homosexual friends...even though I do not approve of their lifestyle. They have many other attributes that make them absolutely wonderful people! Bullying didn't get the pharisees too far either...
Seven Jobs That Are Worth the Stress (AOL Jobs)
Oct 17th 2010 5:01PM How many of these jobs are truly worth the stress? I'm a FT nurse, and just walked away from an employer of nearly ten years because the stress has been mounting...my nearly $25,000/year salary was REALLY tough to leave. You know what job I think has as much stress as ANY of these positions, but gives you the greatest rewards, and NO monetary gain? A PARENT!!! I wouldn't trade my position for anything in the world...the rest of it will fade away in time anyway, and really, how important is money when you can live on next to nothing and be happier than those making 6 figure plus incomes?
Bringing Up Baby ... Not: More Women Childless by Choice (ParentDish)
Oct 4th 2010 9:28PM My oldest (step) daughter is 20, and my youngest is 3 (three more in between them). While many people think that having that many children is irresponsible, Charlotte, you have made a very valid point. The world is NOT what it once was. People who say "we've heard that in every generation" have got their eyes closed to the horrors of today. My feeling though, is that I a strong desire to continue teaching future generations that that is not what REAL life is about. I am raising my children with solid morals, a solid Christian upbringing, knowing the truth about right and wrong, and how society can fool you into believing what you want is what you need. My feeling, although if you'd have asked me 18 years ago would have been completely opposite, is that God made us and wants us to keep passing down to future generations the truth. Life is NOT easy, and we cannot protect our children from every tribulation they will face, but even in a world of turmoil, one CAN have peace! I commend your daughter for having a good head on her shoulders, and thinking things out. There is no reason that even without having children, she won't have a significant positive impact in the lives of children who know her!!!
