Jul 14th 2009 11:04AM The author equates racist or bigotry with a hate because someone stole from them. Most murders are not done in hate, most murders are committed during an argument about money, property and especially when intoxicated ( alcohol or drugs). If we go with this authores train of thought capital murder would be in jeopardy ( for those that like to kill with revenge in mind). A murder that was committed with intent on committing murder. After all it is based on what that person was thinking or knew. This woman also tries to say that racism or bigotry is an illness, with comparing it to being paranoid? Hate crimes are hard to prove, there has to be proof not just "I think he is a racists" or " this is what he thinks". It is not just about your thoughts. The author should actually sit through a hate crime trial. Everyonee is entitled to your thoughts, but when your thoughts trigger harm, there needs to be something done. Just like free speech, you cannot yell fire in a crowded theatre.
