Top Picks for Sunless Tanners (Shopping Articles Blog)
Jul 16th 2011 10:58PM I bought L'oreal sublime bronze self-tanner and although it provides an even, rich color, it contains "sparkles"...this is a trend I've noticed in several lotions I've purchased lately. So annoying, as the advertising doesn't say anything about this. I'm not 10 years old and I don't want my skin to look like it's coated in glitter! I wonder if the top few products listed here also contain these sparkles? Can anyone tell me?
Why Does Everybody Get My Name Wrong? (ParentDish)
Jul 15th 2010 7:40PM Nice point, Ken. "Harold" is not exactly a prime name, is it?
I have a friend who just named her baby Alyvia, or something close to that, and she is hoping people will pronounce it "Olivia" but with an A sound. I think she is destined for disappointment, and little Alyvia is doomed to a lifetime of repeating and then spelling her name at least twice for everyone she meets. Good intentions; bad idea. Spelling it "Alivia" would have been a better shot, but even that is dubious. If any name requires a double-take...well, you're already in trouble.
Why Does Everybody Get My Name Wrong? (ParentDish)
Jul 15th 2010 7:29PM Good grief, people take offense over the least thing, don't they? Calm down and just tell people how to pronounce your name if they make a mistake.
Larry King Wants His Real Estate Back in Divorce (Housingwatch)
Apr 16th 2010 12:40AM I finally understand why Larry invited his wife to sing on his show at Christmas...she of the cringe-worthy "singing talent"...at the time, I thought, "Whoa, is love blind AND deaf?" Now I get it...Larry was just trying to save his marriage.
Dating Dilemma -- Should a Man Take the Curb Side of the Sidewalk? (Lemondrop)

Tell Us About the Worst Guy You Ever Dated. We Mean It. (Lemondrop)
Feb 6th 2010 12:09AM He pulled my car out of a snowbank with his Subaru, so I said yes to a date even though he seemed excessively proud of his Subaru and its rescuing capabilities. He took me to a horrid and depressing Woody Allen movie, then we walked a long, long way in the rain (and me in high heels) to a seedy yet expensive French restaurant where he spoke terrible French to the server and ordered raw oysters...and then repeatedly tried to bully me into eating some, even though I made it clear that wasn't going to happen. During dinner, he told me that although he'd certainly dated far prettier girls, there was just something about me. When he walked me back to my car (you spend a small fortune on the dinner, but won't spring for a cab?) he tried to lure me back to his hotel room. The big hook? We could watch "Willard" on cable. For the uninitiated, "Willard" was the sequel to "Ben"...a couple of sci-fi rat movies. In "Willard", the rat first terrorizes, then eats people...alive. Ever since that night, I've held a strong bias against men who drive Subarus.
New Word Enters Dictionary... Meh (News Campus Blog)
Nov 21st 2008 5:07PM Really, "meh" is best used as a single-word response to something the respondent doesn't care about at all, and/or doesn't find worthy of discussion. Example: "How do you feel about the continuing controversy over the expensive wardrobe purchased for Palin by he GOP?" Reply: "Meh."
Facebook 101: 25 Tips and Tricks (Switched)
Nov 13th 2008 7:45PM Using an online social networking as a substitute for actual, in-person interaction is sad, but if a social website is used to supplement real life encounters, how can that be a bad thing? As in everything else we do, it's about balance. We can be real AND virtual.
Naked packaging, naked employees -- is Lush the ultimate green product? (WalletPop)
Aug 27th 2008 3:09PM I agree that people are getting upset for nothing over the naked behinds. This is kind of a cute idea, really.
As to the question of kids...kids can handle it just fine as long as the parents don't over react and make it out to be something shameful. If my kids saw this, I would just tell them the simple truth: It's advertising, honey.

What Not to Wear to a Wedding and What to Wear Instead (Shopping Articles Blog)
Jun 13th 2008 3:51PM My daughter was married last month, and guests wore a wide variety of clothes to the wedding...from casual to quite formal. The bride and groom were pleased to see each and every guest, whether they arrived in chiffon and pearls or a sundress and sequined flip-flops.People wear what they can afford, and what they feel is flattering to them. And shouldn't that be okay?
