The Best Free Stuff on the Internet: News (Switched)
May 21st 2007 9:55AM Yisrael Mageo
You made a comment, "nothing is free ..not really". Not so! You just have to work hard to find it because, while it may be free nothing in life comes easy. Someone mentioned freecycle.com & I've gotten SO MUCH free stuff from Freecycle, I lost count and not junk either. Their trading is done through yahoo groups, and if you search yahoo groups you'll find a plethora of other groups that give away free stuff. The same thing can be found at Craigslist too.
So, you see there really is things who are free.
American Idol: Live Results Show #8 (AOL TV)
Apr 12th 2007 11:33AM It amazes me for as long as this competition’s been going on that people still don’t realize that the contestants don’t pick out their own clothes!!! HELLO!!! DUH!! Didn’t anyone ever remember how when Kathrine Mcphee was in Idol that one of the things she talked about before & after the show ended that she wasn’t comfortable in a lot of the clothes she wore because they weren’t something she would have picked for herself? They have a stylist that gives each contestant a rack of clothes to chose from and the stylist tries to pick different clothes that will accentuate their body type, especially for the fuller-figured women. And no the judges probably don’t know that the contestants don’t pick their own clothes because the judges don’t come out until moments before the shows fixing to start. The producers probably told the stylist that they should dress Haley very sexily since she’s the only contestant that has the body and not the voice and by showing off her body, it might keep her in the competition longer.
Believe me as much as Simon commented about the way she dresses, he still would rather her last longer in the competition that Lakisha, Jordan & Malinda since they are more shapely. I mean isn’t it overly obvious that we are still all very vain that we don’t think someone who is fuller-figured can be an American Idol or a music star to begin with? Never mind that all three of those girls have more personality than Haley ever did and aren’t anywhere near being as fake as the rest of the bunch that are in the competition right now. At least I hope someone besides myself sees how phony & arrogant Blake is!
In Defense of: Sanjaya and his teenybopper fans (AOL TV)
Mar 21st 2007 1:31AM Those who are saying sanjaya should be left alone, I wonder, did you make fun of & insult 'Chicken Little', and all the other non-talented young male singers that outlasted more than what everyone thought they should have? Chances are yes, you did.
Oh, & I guess now I'm in the belligerent crowd just because I don't chose to defend him. However, I haven't insulted him, nor anyone else. But what I did give was an intellgient response of why I think the author and several posters were wrong.
And for whoever said Sanjaya has all the votes from 3rd to 8th grade, not so. You might have a pre-teen daughter voting for him but not all teen girls are voting for him. Actually, even though everyone has a hard time believing it, some teenagers actually dovote based on talent & not looks. At least I know that's the case for my daughter & all her friends. I sit here week to week watching them talk about how cute he is but how bad he sounds.
In Defense of: Sanjaya and his teenybopper fans (AOL TV)
Mar 21st 2007 1:11AM I'm getting SOOO sick & tired of hearing everyone say that Sanjaya has all the Teeny Bopper votes because it's not true! Yeah sure Sanjaya had one little girl in the audience tonight that couldn't stop crying because she loved hearing him so much. At the same time, when Malinda performed, this same little girl had the same reaction.
I'm not a teeny bopper but I'm a mother to one. I know everyone seems to think that a teenager doesn't recognize talent or someone that can actually sing, besides just being cute. However, it's just not the case. Each week since the competition begin, (the top 24 until now) my daughter and all her friends have gone on & on about how terrible Sanjaya is. They haven't seen any personality from him, actually they say he's boring. Plus, week to week he's almost always sung songs that were just too old for him (and the teen crowd) and aren't upbeat enough to catch a teen crowd. Sure, they think he's cute, but that didn't mean they felt they should vote for him.
In fact, my daughter loves & votes relgiously for Malinda, while many of her friends actually like Chris Richards (sp??) and of course Blake Lewis. If anyone has the teeny bopper votes, it's Blake Lewis because he seems more "hip and cool" and sing songs that actually appeal to that age group. I was so glad when Peter Noone mentioned tonight (on Idol) that Blake Lewis has all the teen votes hands down because he said what I've been saying from the beginning. Not that I agree because I don't think he's that good & he comes off as very arrogant to me.
Why Am I Feeling OK About This? (AOL Elections Blog)
Nov 8th 2006 1:13PM Whoa since when did the Leftist become the unmoral and rotten party? Did that just happen over night while the country was asleep? And, if the media are SO biased to the Leftist why is it they consistently side with the Conservatives & praise them even when they’re doing wrong?? And, since when did the Leftist want us to lose the war in Iraq & not opposed to Terrorist??
You seem to have gotten it all twisted around which is just so typical of narrow minded Conservatives, to not be able to see things for what they truly are. When in reality we aren’t & have been for terrorism, it was actually the Republicans & the President’s administration. I mean we are talking about the party who’s president manage to convince the nation, that Iraq & Saddam were solely responsible for 9/11. Until then the War on Terrorism & the Iraqi War were TWO separate issues. But, he managed to fool people into believing that by going to war in Iraq, we’d be going after the Terrorist’s.
So here we are years later & we’ve not made any progress on bringing those responsible for 9/11 to justice because we’re too busy fighting against all new Middle Eastern Terrorist Groups in Iraq. Under this administration’s guidance-the Right Wingers- we’ve brought on an violent uprising in the Middle East that’s so out of control, that even he & his administration don’t know what to do now or how to handle it. So now, the Leftist’s are left to try to figure out how to get us out of there while we still have some American soldiers alive, they can protect us in our country for when they come after us & they will there’s no doubt whatsoever. And, when they come after us, it’s not the Leftist’s fault because they didn’t start it in the first place! Yet, that’s who the lame conservatives will blame, just because they’re use to blaming others for their own faults & leaving the Leftist to clean it up.
Oh, and btw, you talk of how vile, rotten & dirty us Leftist are and that now that we’re in control, our vileness will show through. In my opinion, it’d be a refreshing change from what we’ve been seeing & hearing about all the scandals & disgusting, vile things that the conservatives have been doing! Remember, that’s the main reason the Rightist’s have lost control in the first place!! Because they were FINALLY exposed & just in time for America to get the wake up call they needed! And, they proved they had woken up & had enough yesterday. Too bad it took all the vile, nasty things the conservatives coming out before people realized it was enough.
The Results Thread (AOL Elections Blog)
Nov 8th 2006 1:02AM It's only natural the Republicans would react to their loss by showing their ignorance on just how much they **THINK** they know about the Democratic Party. Though, all their fears seem very similar to the rhetoric we’ve heard from their Republican Administration. Again that’s SO typical of republicans, they cann’t think for themselves, or have their own opinions. It’s controlled by what their Republican Politicians tell them, whether it be based on fact or just crazy rumors or myths meant to fool them.
They couldn’t have an independent thought or opinion if their life depended on it. Well, unless their President or [lying] Politicians tell them to do it. Talk about a bunch of trained monkeys!!
I don't understand why it is that just because Democrats won control, republicans are afraid of increased taxes, terrorism getting worse & war coming into this country. The last time I checked, wasn’t it our Republican Administration that took us into a war based on lies & oil, causing terrorist groups to grown by leaps & bounds; and planning to do horrible things to the U.S? It's the same administration that completely ignored the [REAL] war on Terrorism, to be able to focus solely on Iraq?? And, aren't they the same administration which increased our national debt and ruined our economy?? Not to mention, turning their back the other way while the oil & gas companies poured millions into their pockets (along with the pockets of the politicians they bought off) by keeping gas prices outrageous??
In my opinion, the Democrats have a tough job ahead of them, probably the toughest a newly elected majority party has had to do, just to repair all the damage the Republican Administration has done. So of course they're (Republicans) scared! They know that the corruption will finally stop & problems will be fixed. So, it’s inevitable that things will get worse before they get better. That’s not the Democrat’s fault, that they’re left to pick up the pieces and undo the devastation, which the Republican Party has left in it’s wake.
Wal-Mart creates online shopping lists for kids and draws fire (BloggingStocks)
Oct 20th 2006 12:59PM We AREN'T Bashing the IDEA because it's actually a great idea: WHEN IT'S DONE RIGHT!!! There's a way to do it without telling kids they're out of a job if they pick the wrong toy. The game is set-up to encourage kids to pick the most expensive toy.
Someone mentioned it was like the Bridal Registry, let me ask you or anyone that's used that registry, are you rewarded or scolded when you pick a cheaper item or a wrong item? If it did, would you still use it? No, because you would think it was cheesy, commercialized and unnecessary!!
If the 'game' was set-up right, just like the Bridal Registry and not just a ploy to get the kids to pick the most expensive toy, it would be a wonderful feature and would help parents and relatives everywhere.
It was mentioned that again Walmart beat their competitor's. But, by closing the law-a-way, they've lost just as many customers as they gained by this stupid ploy. So, they really haven't beaten any of their competitors; they've actually helped their competitor's!! In fact, I hope they (the competitor's) will start a advertising campaign welcoming Walmart Lay-a-Way Customers into their store.
American Idol: Goodbye Brenna! (AOL TV)
Mar 4th 2006 1:16AM First, for those of you that don't recall Paula was simply repeating comments that Simon was whispering to both her and Randy about the contestants. She was just trying to get Simon back for acting like Brenna (with his overinflated ego: in thinking he's the most important part of the show, more so than even the contestants.he way she did the other night.)
Then of course, in usual Simon fashion he denied it. But, of course i'm sure everyone's that's always so quick to insult Paula didn't even hear Randy agreeing that SIMON was making these comments & she was just repeating them. Good Lord, she was just trying to make Simon look like the fool he is and now she's getting crucified. In fact, I think Randy even repeated one that sounded even more absurd but I don't see anyone attacking him. Give Paula a break for a change.
Anyhow, moving on....
Sway so deserved to go, in fact he should have left last week, along with Brenna more than Patrick Hall and Becky O' Donahue deserved to go. What he sang last week was ten times worst than what he sang this week!
However, I agree Kevin so needs to go. He's just getting sympathy votes right now because you just want/need to feel sorry for him for being so geeky & squeaky for looking like a chicken; though, I think he looks more like a mouse with glasses!! But, mainly feel sorry for him that the producers & judges decided to make him their William Hung and they'll fill him up with false hope & false praise. I mean my god you EXPECT it from Paula but Randy too?? At least Simon's keeping it real with him, to a point.
As for the comments about the way Mandisa was dressed, don't you all understand and get that these contestants don't neccesarily dress themselves? They have a whole line of stylist's, for hair, makeup and even dressing. SO, if there was something you didn't like the way she was dresses, blame them not her because I'm sure she wouldn't delibrately dress a way that would make her look bad. She's probably just trying to please the producers and SIMON because they really don't want a fat girl on the show and they probably expected America wouldn't either and would vote her off the first week!!
American Idol: The night of bad song choices (AOL TV)
Mar 1st 2006 12:16PM Most of the performances were lack luster, though I disagree that Simon never interrupts Paula or Randy because he does all the time. Ever heard all those mumbles he makes, and the groans. During the auditions he's worse and last season he did it too. I wonder if they've just started turning his microphone off this season until it's his turn. Paula moved last night, because he kept interrupting her and was rude.
I think she & Randy are tired of him being extremely critical without trying to give constructive criticism. They & Ryan always ask Simon what the person can do to improve but he just insults them even more.
I know most don't like Paula or Randy because they aren't like Simon but what they do is better. These contestants are there for a reason: because they have POTENTIAL. And, you improve upon your potential, through constructive criticism and practice. MOST of the contestants desperately want to hear what they can do to improve. (Well except for Brenna, obviously!) To give constructive criticism, it's important to say what they're doing right, then what they're doing wrong and how to improve.
Everyone knows Paula's a softie, & doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm sure she figures Simon's comments are cruelty enough, she doesn't want to add to it. I think that's the main reason they interrupt Simon because he's literally crushing their hopes & dreams, and they're just trying to explain to them that it's not as bad as Simon says. The fighting & interrupting going on between them is all part of the show.
All the judges have monitors telling them what to do and say. No one realizes how TRULY SCRIPTED this show is, would be shocked at how much of it is scripted!! BUT, they'll never tell because the contestants & everyone who works behind the scenes have to sign all types of contracts, and if they went against them AI or Fox would sue the pants off them, lol!
Project Runway at Fashion Week (AOL TV)
Feb 21st 2006 1:51PM My favorite is Santino. There's a BIG difference between him & the others. He's not afraid to take risks, or to go big and not afraid to piss the judges off. Notice the judges literally rip him to shreds every time, yet he's still there. That's because they know he's not intimidated by them & certainly won't kiss their ass. All the other contestants hardly ever stand behind their designs or defend what they made. They just stand there like their deaf mute. Now, Santino would tell them to kiss his a** and almost always says I don't care what you say, I stand behind my design.
It's obvious his designing & sewing skills are light years ahead of the other designers, as is his confidence. Wonder why I say that? Because his designs are all very intricate & detailed. Meanwhile, everyone elses designs could be made by an amateur. The judges have literally begged the designers to take risks & each time they're disappointed. That's why they did the whole flower design; to give the designers a chance to really go wild & once again: BORING. I can't believe Chloe's been designing clothes for over 10 years, especially after seeing that evening dress she made. My 13 year old daughter could do a better job than that, and she's just learning! Though, obviously Chloe did it on purpose, because as she told the others, she doesn't want to win.
Daniel: how do you say BORING in german? He was SO flattered by that SuperModels comments on his evening gown, while I was screaming at the TV you're flattered that a supermodel called your dress & you BORING, lol. Get a LIFE! His designs put me to sleep! For Fashion Week they should ban him from the colors Black, Dark Blue & Brown because that's all he's used this whole time. Show us some LIFE, some flair, PLEASE! I just can't see how he wins so many challenges because they're BORING!! But, as the judges said last week, even though his designs lack creativity, he does sew well.
In my opinion, Santino should be the winner because his designs are creative & edgy. Even if he doesn't win, his career's already made for him. The winner from the previous season got his own reality show, so they're gonna pick someone who's also got lots of personality. So, since Daniel has NO personality at all, he would bore the audience to tears yet Santino would have everyone tuning in.
