'Manning Up' by Kay Hymowitz: Has the Rise of Women Turned Men Into Boys? (MyDaily)
Mar 19th 2011 9:13AM Thank goodness that a woman has written this book. While I am 74 years old. I have never been "a jock". I married at age 22 my wife of alomost 52 years and I are the proud parent of three sons and their following in our values and we have four wonderful grandchildren. ...and yes our "daughters" ( our son's wives are wonderful as well.In the past 30 years or so it has increasingly become very apparent that the emerging women's spokespersons supported by the media in commercials, in sitcoms, with female standup comedians, and self deprecating male comedians, and "comedy" movies that the American male has been castrated, became a "joke" the brunt of putdowms and stupid child like actions, and even political correctness which in itself is a cancer in our society, allows the "shlemiel" American man to be ridiculed. Perhaps with authors as this our American boys will be able to keep the family jewels safe from our upside down and screwed up value system.
People Skipping Showers, Deodorant - This Stinks! (Stylelist)
Nov 2nd 2010 2:38PM Us "old-tmers" don't have such "youthful" concerns regarding offensive personal fragrances. As our sense of smell has diminished to a point that we can pass wind among ourselves, and as long as it is done discreetly, no one even notices.
Roman ruins in Turkey to be flooded by dam project (Gadling)
Oct 17th 2010 12:53PM I could see how the present farming industry in Turkey needs it's water supply to feed the populace and maintain Turkey's economy, still I hate to see the Roman Historical Ruins get destroyed. On the other hand we here, in our "crazy" society are allowing rich cultivated, necessary farmland in California to be destroyed by blocking water flow for farming irrigation in order to "save" the Smelts" a small group of fish! Ah ain't America great!
U.S. Unemployment Rate Looks Good, Compared to Some Other Countries (AOL Jobs)
Oct 1st 2010 12:58PM As predicted a few years back, the USA will gradually become a third world country. Look at the spin in this article. We, the American People are apparently supposed to "feel good" that in comparison to other countries our unemployment figures aren't that bad after all, comparitively speaking. Is the writer, a shill for the Obama administration, attempting to having us accept this new norm?
Actor Jon Hamm: The Tea Party Is "Racist" (VIDEO) (AOL TV)
Sep 20th 2010 2:05PM It seem given a public platform, self appointed "celebraties" believe that their political comments are of value. Perhaps to ignorant and stupid fools among us they are right. But can't these outspoken "intellectuals" understand that their misuse of the race card is passe, and that the informed educated and decent people who are patriotic and love the America that we knew before the "Obamination" took over, are not against Obama because of race, rather it is solely because his policies if all do come to fruition, will turn our beloved country into an unrecognizable European or possibly 3rd world country.
Carrie Fisher on Leia, Shock Therapy and Tea Partiers (PopEater)
Jun 14th 2010 3:02PM Carrie Fisher and the rest of the Hollywood elite should stick to their "art" and take their meds. Her opinions as well as her colleagues are pretty much adding to the demise of our once wonderful country. Everyone can express their personal opinion,so Carrie here is mine......Who cares about the ignorance emminating from your mouth!
Highest and Lowest Paying Jobs in America (AOL Jobs)
Jun 6th 2010 12:08PM We do have some wierd values in our society. The surgeons deserve their earnings (and more) based on expertise and difficulties in their specialties. The dishwasher is paid appropriately for their work. But an outrageously overinflated paycheck for Hollywood"stars", or an overgrown piece of humanity playing in sports, can often be replaced by the "dishwasher". The same cannot be said for the Surgeon!
HHS Secretary Sebelius: Health Reform Already Helping Young Adults (AOL Health)
May 17th 2010 5:25PM Secy Sebelius is ommitting a very important fact here. If the Obama administration would concentrate on the economy in a way to create jobs, the college graduates would be able to more easily find work. which would probably provide health care benefits, and not cause them to move back in with mom and dad to age 26 as freeloaders.
RosettaStone Communicates With Your Descendants and Aliens From the Grave (Switched)
Mar 17th 2010 4:44PM A few years ago I suggested to family and friends that with technology available monuments at gravesites should have an LED screen and adio so that while visiting a grave site of a loved one, a pre-recorded presention (before death obviously) would greet the visitor by the deceased with a memorable message. Seems to becoming a reality.
Why Jay Leno and David Letterman Hate Each Other (PopEater)
Jan 28th 2010 12:01PM I don't care about the inside bickering between the late night hosts. After Johnny Carson left Jay Leno became the "go-to" host because of his appeal to the many Tonight Show viewers. I personally always dis-liked and still do, David Letterman. As far as Conan O'Brian I never got his appeal.
