Shutting down the telemarketers, part two (WalletPop)

Dec 3rd 2008 4:15PM The do not call list helped but we found a better way.....

I called the phone company, they have an option that the call won't go through without a valid number to show on the caller ID (ours shows both the number AND the name). If I don't recongize the name and/or number I don't answer the phone!

Shutting down the telemarketers, part two (WalletPop)

Dec 3rd 2008 4:11PM I had fun with one the other night...... got a call from some outfit selling extended vehicle warranties.....

It took all of 15 minutes for him to get the information he needed, make, model, mileage engine size and all of that - and AFTER the 15 minutes of questions he finally got around to asking what year the vehicle is. I told him it's a 1977.... the phone said

AOL Straw Poll: Sept. 25-Oct. 2 (Politics Daily)

Sep 29th 2008 11:09AM Wow, I can't help thinking these AOL polls are SO far off base..... they've been showing McCain ahead for weeks now but nobody else agrees, the Gallup poll this morning showns Obama 50%, McCain 42%.

Guess it's time to give up on the AOL poll!

Hot Seat: Knowledge About Palin (Politics Daily)

Sep 2nd 2008 4:58PM Nope, like most of the country I don't know enough about her to make an informed decision....

BUT, McCain has been our senator from Arizona for 20 years so I DO know about him - and I'd vote for Donald Duck before McCain would get my vote.

Doctor turned over to FBI for trying to use front toilet in aircraft (Gadling)

Aug 13th 2008 11:53AM Ah, so they gave the poor man a $100 dollar discount on his next flight? There's gonna be a next flight?

If ANY airline treated me like that I can guarantee that would be the LAST time I used that particular airline.

Southwest seems to be doing this a lot lately and over the most idiotic things like the way a lady is dressed or a child fussing after a five hour flight.

Top 10 E-Mail Scams 5 (Switched)

Jul 16th 2008 10:16AM It's not just AOL, it's EVERY internet provider out there and the problem is that there are just so many of those scams floating around that it's impossible to stop them.

Fortunately most of them give themselves away. It's nice to know that PayPal is protecting my account and that I need to update my information - IF in fact I actually had a pay pal account. It's the same thing with the email from my 'bank' - they never seem to get the right bank, and I've already confirmed with MY bank that they won't ever ask for that type of information by email OR phone call, they'll call and ask me to come in the bank if there's really a problem.

Surprising dogs breeds to be wary of (ParentDish)

Jul 9th 2008 11:38AM There are NO bad dogs, only bad dog owners!

We've had Daschunds for years, the two with us now are numbers seven and eight. Not one of them has ever bit anyone or even snapped or snarled because we trained them not to do things like that. They're sweet little dogs and have all been great around kids. IF they get around a child who doesn't know how to treat a dog they'll just hide under the couch until we can get the little monster under control and/or out of the house.

Stereo Company Installs GPS, Causes $13K in Damage (Switched)

Jul 7th 2008 9:54AM >This story is kind of a hatchet job on the shop that was found not liable >by a small claims court.

Yep, something smells REAL bad here..... considerding that small claims courts are generally limited to $2500 dollars, anything larger than that has to go to a higher court.....

AND, if we were to check the value of that particular car, wouldn't $12,000 be a total loss?

Jury Awards $6M to Taser Victim's Family (Switched)

Jun 11th 2008 12:24PM Well, for what little it's worth here's MY thought.......

Had the individual in question complied with the requests of the officer and been peaceful and co-operative he probably would NOT have been tazed.

HE is the one who did all the drugs that enlarged his heart. He's the one that didn't comply with the officer's requests. He's the one who basically asked to be tazed, maced, pepper sprayed or even shot. No one else is repsonsible for his action, he brought it on himself.

Wisconsin man's '91 Silverado set to hit 1 million miles (Autoblog)

Feb 4th 2008 11:28AM >How can anyone possibly >drive 1 million miles in 11 >years???? This story >sounds impossible.

It's not impossible at all....

I know a lady who is a division sales manager for a major retailer. She has regularly, for the last 20 years averaged 125,000 miles a year in the course of her employment. She drives nothing but Lincoln Town Cars and trades them in when they hit 400,000 miles.
