Is 'Undercover Boss' Too Exploitative of Employees? (PopEater)

Feb 11th 2010 11:25AM I work in the television industry and I can tell you straight out they would have had to sign a release in order for the show to air with their segments being part of it. I think the writer needs to stop busting on the show and it's concept with the "oh they didn't get paid routine" because let's be honest and ask ourselves "Do you think the people on COPS get paid?" I haven't seen one of those criminals get paid for their appearances and if you haven't noticed they actually blur people at times - why? because they probably didn't sign a release form giving permission for their faces to appear on television or as part of the production. Anyone who's watched a reality show has seen those blurs on a persons face or product and that's the reason why. Now as to whether some of the people knew that they were actually being filmed for a show or were "tipped off" I can't speak for that. It did seem strange for even me watching the way somethings played out but I'd doubt that the supervisor who was docking salary would have chose to do so on that day had he been "tipped off". Matter-of-fact if he was he would have been out of his desk and more visible to make it appear that he was doing his job which was one of the things that he was lacking in. So in the end, let's just watch the show and not over think it. It's Reality TV for Godsake.

75 Percent of Young Americans Are Unfit for Military Duty (Sphere Lite)

Nov 4th 2009 2:48PM This is really no surprise. Have you seen what our police and firemen look like? I mean come on. In many cases once these people get their jobs they just become couch potatoes themselves or eat real badly and not workout at the gyms and keep active. Add to this the children these days don't even run around and exercise but give them a video game and they are right there.

We are reaping what we have sown and it's only a matter of time before another nation decides to put us in our place. They say that history repeats itself and the way were are going we are looking more and more like the Roman Empire every day.

Octomom Nadya Suleman's Pregnant Nun Halloween Costume (Stylelist)

Oct 30th 2009 8:16AM Well think about it is could have been worse, she could have dressed up as the Virgin Mary! Her dressing up as a pregnant nun doesn't bother me as much since the church has had a problem with nuns getting knocked up by priests for quite sometime and then covering it over as if it never happened and reassigning the nun and priest.

Lost Dog Collects Clues That Lead to Family (Pawnation OLD)

Oct 1st 2009 3:56PM Such a great story. I can say that dogs never do forget their owners. I had a dog that we had to give away temporarily when I was younger because of a move after a fire in our home and when we returned our dog dashed across the yard and straight into our arms. He was SO happy to see us again. It's one of the reasons why I find it so terrible when I hear about people mistreating an animal as if it doesn't have feelings. They do and while they might not be able to communicate and do things to the extent of humans, we need to remember that each and everyone of us is wonderfully made.

Victoria Rowell Wears Obama Dress to Support Health Care Reform (Black Voices Insurance)

Sep 23rd 2009 8:51AM I think you left out that Rowell's mother suffered from schizophrenia, took a taxi to a hospital to give birth to Rowell, leaving a son and two small daughters unsupervised. When she was 16 days old, Rowell, along with her two sisters, Sheree and Lori, were surrendered to child services.

That in itself is traumatizing enough for a youngster to have to deal with and they lived in the foster care system for many years. And not all doctors accept DSS and when they do they don't all treat their patients the same. I've see this personally how in some states they are treated like second class citizens. As for her having taken ballet and dance, yes she received scholarships for that schooling. But are you also familiar with what is required to keep a scholarship? Undoubtedly she had to study hard and keep a specified grade point average just like any other scholarship student. So it's not as if she didn't work hard to make her way out of the life she was born into.

And as far as her modeling that didn't really begin to take off until she was in her 20's (1980's) and at that she wasn't what we call a "supermodel" so just how much do you think she was paid? They aren't paid millions nor are actors who are just breaking into the industry. And in both cases they normally don't have health insurance unless they pay for it themselves.

I agree that we need healthcare bad in America and that the system as it is currently sucks but unless you've personally walked in another persons shoes you can't get all high and mighty and try to discount their truth.

Victoria Rowell Wears Obama Dress to Support Health Care Reform (Black Voices Insurance)

Sep 23rd 2009 8:20AM Ken, I think you need to do a little bit more research before you just go around ranting and calling someone "pretentious". Rowell was born in Portland, Maine and her mother who suffered from schizophrenia, took a taxi to a hospital to give birth to Rowell, leaving a son and two small daughters unsupervised. When she was 16 days old, Rowell, along with her two sisters, Sheree and Lori, were surrendered to child services.

That in itself is traumatizing enough for a youngster to have to deal with and they lived in the foster care system for many years. And to touch on the other persons comment who was on DSS as a child, not all doctors accept DSS and when they do they don't all treat their patients the same. I've see this personally how in some states they are treated like second class citizens. As for you knocking on her having taken ballet and dance, might I bring to your attention that she received scholarships for that schooling. And as far as her modeling that didn't really begin to take off until she was in her 20's (1980's) and at that she wasn't what we call a "supermodel" so just how much do you think she was paid?

I'll just write your rant off to your not having enough knowledge of both the acting or modeling industry and leave it at that. Not to mention you true lack of compassion in thinking that you can speak to a persons character and life without even having walked a mile in their shoes.

Must be real nice to be you. But to Victoria Roswell I tip my hat to you lady - you are classy and have made something of yourself despite odds that might have left others in the projects!

Malia, Maya: Obama Mixes Up Name of Daughter With Half Sister (Politics Daily)

Sep 21st 2009 4:21PM Yeah we all do it from time to time. HOWEVER, I must state that had this been Sarah Palin who made the mistake it would have been played 24/7 and some of you who are here saying "we all do it" would suddenly become those who were saying "OMG, she's so stupid that she can't even get her kids names right." So it's media people. Let the other side have some fun with it for a while just as you did when the shoe was on the other foot.

Frankfurt 2009: Volkswagen calls E-Up! Concept "Beetle of the 21st Century" (Autoblog)

You knew someone would joke about Jackson's death (and you kinda knew it would be Kimmel) (AOL TV)

Jun 26th 2009 1:00PM I was watching Jimmy Kimmel and to be honest after his jokes I just had to turn the channel. I don't find someone dying to be funny in the slightest and to joke about it on the very day it occurred - only hours, was in poor taste. I might just go as far to say that I think last night was my last night of watching Jimmy Kimmel.

Do you want to see these Battlestar Galactica actors appear in Caprica? (AOL TV)

May 14th 2009 8:39AM In "Sometimes a Great Notion", it is revealed that all of the Final Five had previous lives on Earth, 2000 years in the past. As each of them explores the ruins, each begins to regain memories of their past lives. It is when Saul Tigh remembers his previous life that he discovers that his late wife, Ellen Tigh, is the fifth and final Cylon. During Saul's flashback, his wife insinuates that she had previous knowledge of the destruction of Earth when she states that plans have been made for her and Saul to be re-born.

In Episode 4-17 "No Exit" Ellen Tigh is revealed to have resurrected on board one of Cavil's Basestars after her poisoning. Their past is also revealed: they lived on Earth 2,000 years ago and were researchers in rebuilding Cylon Resurrection Technology which had been abandoned when the Thirteenth Tribe gained the ability to procreate. Saul and Ellen were married even back then and Tyrol and Tory Foster were in love with plans to get married. They learned of the upcoming holocaust from beings only they could see and worked to rebuild resurrection. They succeeded and placed it on a ship which they left in orbit of Earth. When the nuclear attack happened (according to the writers, an uprising of their own Centurions that apparently destroyed both sides) and they were killed, they were reborn in new bodies on that ship in orbit. The Five then headed for the Colonies to warn them about making artificial life, but the trip took thousands of years due to there being no FTL drive on their ship. Due to traveling at near light speed, time dilation made it seem like less than that to them. They arrived during the first war and made a deal with the Centurions: stop the war and they'd help them build human bodies. Thus the Final Five ended the first Cylon War. They built Number One (Cavil) and he helped them build seven other models, but murdered model Number Seven and prevented any hope of resurrection for him. Ultimately Cavil locked them in a compartment and evacuated the oxygen, killing them. He then boxed them and apparently removed the memory of their identities from the other Cylons. He later unboxed and resurrected them, but first blocked their true memories and implanted false ones. Cavil periodically seeded them among the human populations starting with Saul, and eventually Ellen, to show them how bad humanity supposedly was
