Rent and Plug: Enterprise Adds Chevy Volt to Roster (AOL Travel News)

Jan 11th 2011 12:28AM NO, Chas B., it is 100%, completely electric and gets 93MPG energy equivalency to a gallon of gasoline.
Electric cars are for real.

Only when the vehicle is in charge sustaining mode will it use a drop of gasoline.

ABM Industries' Undercover Boss, Henrik Slipsager, Revisits 9/11 (AOL Jobs)

'Top Gear' Is Coming to America: The Hosts Preview History Channel's New Car Show (AOL TV)

Nov 21st 2010 2:26PM I can't wait until Top Gear reviews the Nissan Leaf electric car! It should be interesting.

75 MPG VW Passat Sets Guinness World Record (Sorry, America!) (AOL Autos - Translogic)

Oct 22nd 2010 2:43PM The reason why we will probably never see any of these diesel cars in America is because of the insane emissions regulations required for diesel vehicles .. this drastically increases the cost of the vehicle and reduces the MPG... But, low emissions which is a good thing. But, because of these regulations, car companies don't want to introduce diesel cars in the US.. That, and because some people have a stigma that diesel engines are slow loud and stinky.

What's The Greenest Vehicle On The Road? (AOL Autos - Translogic)

Oct 21st 2010 8:09PM "Nothing is said about the Rare Earth Metals that are in hybrid cars. China controls 97% of this industry and has the might to stop the Prius at any moment it pleases.

John - B.S. Chemical Engineer"

-I COMPLETELY agree with you, John. Neodymium is a rare earth element that China controls. And, BTW, when you recycle those electric/hybrid car batteries, they will more than likely be shipped back to China for recycling because they only have the facilities to recapture the metal (so I've heard)!

Neodymium is used in some batteries, and in practically all modern electric motors, I believe.

Living On Electric Avenue Introduction: The Electric Vehicle Onslaught (AOL Autos - Translogic)

Aug 8th 2010 9:29PM You will be able to drive 800 miles in one day in an electric car, in a few years, when Lithium Ion batteries with nano technology comes to market. Much higher energy density for the size.
You'd probably still have to charge up a few times, but in a few years (when the new battery technology is here), super-quick recharge stations will be along the Oregon - California i-5 corridor at the least. Able to recharge in less than an hour.

Not All Hydrogen Is "Green" (AOL Autos - Translogic)

May 2nd 2010 2:56PM A fuel cell will work at odd temperatures. The car would have an onboard thermal management system to keep the hydrogen tank at the right temperature.
But I say that hydrogen sucks. In order for the car to carry any large amount of hydrogen so thtat it can go for 100s of miles, the hydrogen needs to be stored at ultra ultra low temperatures and high pressure so that it is stored in the car as a liquid! This requires a lot of energy on the part of the thermal management system to maintain...

So, I say, just go straight electric! Converting electricity --> hydrogesn --> electricity is a huge waste.
Go electric cars with new nanotechnology lithium ion batteries to extend range!

Apr 25th 2010 10:13PM So, its past Q1 2010, and no 2.5TB hard drives.... common Hitachi or some manufacture! Make a 5-platter 500GB/platter drive!
