Can Your Netflix Queue Reveal Sexual Orientation? (Switched)
Dec 31st 2009 1:07PM Hi AJ,
Yes it was a contest but it doesn't say that the lady signed up to compete. NetFlix customer data was given to the participants of the competition (movie ratings, the date of the rating, subscriber IDs, and movie info) for them to create an algorithm. Two individuals were able to figure the ACTUAL identities of individuals using this data (ie: political leanings, sexual orientation, etc) and so THAT is what she's concerned with. That someone would be privvy to personal information that she herself didn't entrust them with simply because she is a NetFlix customer and NetFlix gave her data out to those competing for the money.
Woman sues bank for $3 fee; settles for $1,000 (WalletPop)
Jul 13th 2009 11:19AM Conrann ... She was talking about HER overdraft fee charge ... NOT about the ATM fee in the story. Follow? She's agreeing that banks are taking advantage of consumers and giving her own example. Oy vay.
Burger King scraps 'Texican Whopper' ads after complaints (WalletPop)
Apr 16th 2009 7:57AM To all of the perfect, intelligent, hard-working WHITE Americans who are posting about those dirty, tax-dollar stealing Mexicans who have no business complaining about these ads in THEIR country....
LEARN TO READ - AND COMPREHEND!
... this ad is airing in the UK and SPAIN!
:) You obviously can have whatever opinion you want - but at least stay relevent to the story.

Apr 16th 2009 7:47AM Actually, this country doesn't belong to "us white folks" ... we stole it from the American Indians and forced them to be come like us (and/or murdered them). Learn the history of the country you so proudly claim.

Apr 16th 2009 7:43AM Brian,
If you're going to rant, at least be relevent. This has happened in EUROPE. There are no "illegals" in Europe who are flying their flag over an American flag in EUROPE.
... oh and it's "cockroaches" ... unless you really did mean "cock" "roaches"

Mar 26th 2009 10:25AM Hey Mike!
I don't think its the same as being racist. There are many factors that come into play when you choose your ideal mate ... personal preference, chemistry, pet-peeves, family, friends, religion, political views. It all depends on the person. Even though you are open minded and are indifferent to someone's religion, others are not. Religion plays a bigger part in some people's lives and a more subtle role in other's. If you are ok with someone being Jewish (just for example) but they are not ok with dating you as a Christian - I wouldn't call them racist. Perhaps they are looking at things like wanting to share in the customs and traditions of their religion/culture with their future husband and children. You being a Christian isn't necessarily the issue with them - because perhaps you could still have a friendship. You being Christian and being unable to share in those customs and traditions is the issue. There would be a void for your significant other if they chose to ignore your religious differences.
Good luck in your quest! I'm on the same path and it can be very frustrating but I think patience will prove to be rewarding. HOPEFULLY!

Jul 25th 2008 3:39PM Wow ... why is everyone getting on Bill's case? I work and go to school full time - and it's definitely a struggle - but I don't think it's anyone's job to bail me out. Would it be nice for someone who has more money than they need to just hand it over? Absolutely! But lets be realistic ... its not their responsibility. Good for Bill for being successful!! It doesn't make him a snob for putting in his two cents. Jealousy and condescending comments are not any more of a flattering characteristic than the snobbery you're accusing this man of.
