High School Diplomas vs. GEDs: Do Employers Care? (AOL Jobs)

Apr 1st 2009 6:48PM I think this is all hilarious! First off... there is a reason employers want educated employees... read these posts and tell me which are decently educated and which are not. It is easy to tell, unfortunately.
THAT is what employers look for.

Man I am getting so tired of how our society just keeps making it harder and harder for anyone who doesn't have a bachelor's degree to find a job. I have always hated school (who decided it was NECESSARY for us to learn the stuff we're taught about in grade school and liberal-arts colleges????), but nonetheless I got my HS diploma, even tried the college thing for a two years. Now I feel like I wasted the first 22 years of my life learning in a style I despise.. I could have been learning something useful, something I could actually apply to making a living for myself. I could have been learning to garden, cook and sew instead of "In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue," instead of how to form proper sentences, and how to find the square root of the hypotenus of an isoscles triangle.

If I were an employer I would be more concerned with character, ethics, and relative experience than education. We're no longer taught about the first two, and well how are we supposed to get hired for that entry level position without a BA??

'Sex Chip' Creates Pleasure in Brain, Could Treat Disease (Switched)

Dec 23rd 2008 10:27PM While I think that the ability to do something like with a brain is an amazing advancement (for the sake of advancement's sake).... I also think that a low sex drive is one of those darwinian survival-of-the-fittest deals. Should we spend the rest of eternity breeding humans with little or no sex drive? Or should we allow nature to do its thing and let the people with no sex drive continue not sexing, and thus most likely not reproduce? (no sex = no baby afterall). Keep reproducing a bad gene like that and pretty soon everyone will be having this faux reproductive act.

Natalie Maines Sued for Defamation (The Boot)

Dec 4th 2008 4:28PM I think the whole thing sounds a little shady. I'm not from the region, so I don't know much about the murders, or any of the convictions. However... I do know that celebrities need to understand that millions of people listen to them, look up to them, and for some (god known only) reason... they actually think these attention whores actually have some kind of insider smarts about everything, when their opinions are just as insignificant as mine are when I gripe to my boyfriend, the difference is the size of the audience, and the scope of how seriously that audience will take what she's said. Sue her pants off! Same for Oprah... everything that woman touches (or mentions) turns to gold over-night. So if you ever wonder why Obama got elected.. look to Oprah, and then look into Obama's donation site (there is a federal cap on individual campaign donations of $1200 by any person, or company, however... all donations under $200 were reported as "anonymous" so you could donate a million dollars in $200 increments. Also, there is no cap on what an individual could buy for the campaign- I wouldn't be surprised if she and her own team, purchased air time, billboards, flyers, etc) Oprah's mouth should be stapled shut, what is so amazing about her anyway??

Be the Perfect Girlfriend... (Personal Articles)

Nov 7th 2008 2:53PM It all sounds pretty fair to me... the key to being a good girlfriend is respecting the "man" in your man. That part about recipes is bullcrap tho, I HATE it when my boyfriend compares my dishes to his mother's. Between me you and this postsite, I can cook that woman under the table. You can tell alot about a person's upbringing by the foods they eat as adults. All his meals consisted of dry meat, cheese and carbs.

PA Governor 'Nervous,' Sees McCain Surge (Politics Daily)

Oct 22nd 2008 5:22PM Teresa... maybe we do need a civil war. Never really thought about it before... but now that I have it kind of makes sense. Lets play like the beasts of the wild play. Lets play this out like organized crime; we can be conscious of our differences, and yet after the blood shed we can all skulk back to our respective homes and live respectfully of one another, but separate, and not being forced to "tolerate" the other. You disrespect me and mine I'll cut your balls off, fit you some cement shoes and send you to visit the fishes.

Lets split America in two. You can be Obamian Socialists on that side, and we'll have a McCainian Republican democracy on this side. In four years we'll see who's won!!!

Who's with me??

PA Governor 'Nervous,' Sees McCain Surge (Politics Daily)

Oct 22nd 2008 5:11PM Debra Stansbury..... honey, you are a dilluted, politically uneducated, twit of a woman.

Obama has stated, numerous times, that he (in fact!) plans to redistribute wealth. If you don't know what that means go read a book by his favorite author, Karl Marx. Or simply google Socialism. After that google the definition for Totalitarianism, and after that google the definition for Fascism, have you ever heard of Hitler? See the direct line of ties back to Obama's way of thinking?

PA Governor 'Nervous,' Sees McCain Surge (Politics Daily)

Oct 22nd 2008 5:07PM That kind of shit should be disallowed in a campaign. In fact... the whole electoral college system should be disallowed and we should go totally my majority individual votes wins. I'm a Republican in a very green state, so my vote hardly even counts; and that infuriates me! Shouldn't my vote count as much as the next persons in a National campaign?? Or should I just be complacent with the fact that being outvoted in my state makes my vote go for the party I vehemtly despise. All I can hope is that the hippies around here waste their votes on the Green candidates and not on Obama, but in the end I envision our electoral college going Democrat/Socialist in this election anyway. When did Socialism become so hot anyway? It doesn't work!

Bernanke Endorses Obama? (Politics Daily)

Oct 22nd 2008 4:52PM This is in direct response to Mia's comment. At least a toothless, hillbilly Republican isn't looking for handouts from the Government. Whereas a toothless, hillbilly Socialist/Democrat would be (claiming it's the governments fault they didn't finish elementary school or learn to brush their teeth) Seriously... do you people even understand that voting for Obama means bringing more government involvment into your daily lives? Your freedoms will be shot out the fucking door.

Bernanke Endorses Obama? (Politics Daily)

Oct 22nd 2008 4:37PM I've been losing sleep I'm so worried about the outcome of this campaign. I feel as though many Obama supporters really don't have a clear enough understanding of what he aims to do with the American system to be an educated voter.
What happened to people working hard and taking care of themselves? Why do we need to "spread the wealth around?" I'm not a rich person, and I don't have health care; but I know that I could afford health care if it was really a priority; instead I choose to spend my money living my life well today, not on health care in case I get ill tomorrow. Under Obamas regime he will take a huge chunk of my money, make it harder for me to live comfortably, so I can have all these things he's decided I "need." What I really need is the cost of all insurances to go down (as it is now... I don't have a car because I don't want to pay for gas or auto insurance, and I don't see doctors regulary because I don't want to over-pay for services I would probably never use.) I save alot of money by barring down the "necessities" in my life and as a result I have the funds available to feed my passions for cooking, shopping, and travel. Isn't it MY right to decide how MY money is spent on ME. Obama will give me health insurance and take away my quality of life.
