After Backlash, Man Evicting 98-Year-Old Mother Relents (AOL Real Estate)

Mar 3rd 2012 7:26AM The article really doesn't give enough details. But knowing how family dynamics can be. It sounds like the mom knew this guy was the responsible one and arranged her affairs accordingly years before. Just on that premise alone, I would say he was trying to do the right thing. The article does not give enough information on the mother's overall condition. Given her age, it could very well be a nursing home is the best place for her to be. But I agree, he should have moved to evict the brother. There are other legal maneuvers he could have employed to move the mother for the best care. His lawyer should have known those.

Hairstyles by Face Shape: The Perfect Haircut for a Long Face With Coarse and Textured Hair (Stylelist)

Jul 26th 2010 6:17AM It's a gorgeous result, but I ask why does our beauty culture
not embrace natural curls? I'm personally tired of going against my naturally curly/wavy hair to try to achieve sleek and straight! I just had it cut in a wash-and-go styling requiring only a little product to enhance yet tame the curls. Do I miss the
other? The effect, yes. The work and dollars to achieve it?
No!

5 of the World's Biggest (and Most Worrisome) Toy Collections (Asylum)

Jul 17th 2010 6:48AM What's so scary about these collections? People still collect stamps and no one calls them scary. The featured collections are clean and nicely displayed. The McD's toy collector was just plain shrewd! Kudos to that kid. The Star Wars collector
is shrewd, too. Sticking to just figurines and LEGOS.
If you have a valuable collection in these hard times, it can be a boost. I collected Rick Springfield memorabilia. Not to the degree of the article's collectors. But a fun thing for me. Had to sell as times are tough, but was glad to have had it!

St. Louis, Mo., Tops 10 Toughest Cities to Find a Job (AOL Jobs)

Jul 12th 2010 5:02PM Boston MA has jobs? In WHAT?

Are You a 99er? Unemployment Benefits Are Over, What to Do? (AOL Jobs)

Jul 8th 2010 7:02AM John F. C. Taylor has the right of it. Applying for all available jobs on line and getting NO RESPONSE. Seeing the same jobs still posted, applying again and getting NO RESPONSE.
This even happens at our state's job help officer! What people don't seem to understand is there are 13 to 20 people applying for one single job. It IS that bad out there. We need the unemployment extension. Or the debt will just be added to via the welfare, etc. rolls. And on those rolls, you do not pay taxes. At least with unemployment benefits, we are still taxpayers! Not to mention, we paid into the unemployment "insurance" funds via our paychecks for decades.

Social Security and government payments go all-electronic (WalletPop)

Jun 15th 2010 7:12AM The burden of proof is now on the consumer. You end up
printing out key payments, documents to keep proof of transactions, etc. If you don't and there is a computer "glitch"?
Oh gee, too bad!

Hubby Put A Ring On It -- Is it Time to Upgrade You? (BV on Money)

Jun 13th 2010 8:10AM When I was getting engaged in 1990, I told my man I only wanted a quality 1/2 carat stone. He could have afforded more, but I knew that the dollars ought to be saved towards a house. A diamond is not an investment. You cannot ever get the appraisal value if you try to sell or trade in the stone. The only think I upgraded was the setting after 10 years from a six prong to a full surround set so as to not lose the stone. Wise ladies look to the heart and making a life, not a cold rock! I think it foolish to upgrade just to impress others who would probably not be there for you in times of real distress.

Visible Roots: Dark Hair Roots Still a Trend, and Growing (Stylelist)

Jun 6th 2010 6:49AM So I've been fashion forward for a few years now! My roots get flaunted regularly. It's called being sensibly frugal since I cannot currently afford to constantly retouch. It's also kinder to your hair not constantly subjecting it to chemicals.

Gap issues recall of baby swimsuits over choking risk (WalletPop)

May 3rd 2010 4:17PM Colleen, these are suits for INFANTS. It was a bad design all the way around. I would never design a suit for infants or toddlers
that TIE AROUND THE NECK. Your advice in this instance is off the wall. Although in general for raising older kids is fine.
I'm glad GAP caught this design snafu and did the recall before
an uninformed parent used this suit and something tragic did happen. In this country, children's wear is supposed to be free
of drawchords for tying in hoods. It follows that anything designed for a toddler or baby that would tie around the neck is just plain stupid designing.

Always the Writer, Never the Client (Shelterpop)

Apr 24th 2010 8:34AM You don't show the interior wall and I'm wondering if that would lend itself to having an opening cut into it to the next room. Our 1960's ranch had this. It opened up the kitchen nicely! When that development was being built, others saw this innovation and incorporated it into their homes being built (capes and ranches). I miss that old kitchen. I have one of the big ones with granite counters and hardwood floors. (No stainless!). It's that much more to keep clean! More work means less family time. That is what your child will remember, is family time. :)
